Does this sound familiar to anybody?

There are some programs used for testing 3D performance of computers.

Basically it runs a 3D movie for some time... Or does different scenes which test different rendering capabilities of the computer.

One program I've seen was a bunch of Neos (from matrix) shooting each other under different conditions.

Do you have name/link to them?

Try 3DMark. Just google it and you should find the website.

The a bunch of Neos shooting each other was from 3DMark 2001.
Just to let everyone know how cool I am, my score on 3DMark 2005 is about 4000 or so.

The score has a lot to do with your video card - most processors/boards/chipsets nowadays aren't usually the bottleneck.

The video card is usually the 'weakest link' in graphics processing, so you will see a substantially higher score by swapping in a new one.

ATi Radeon 9800 Pro
Pentium 4 2.4 gHz (it's a Pentium 4 'C' so I can overclock to 3+ gHz without any additional cooling - google it)
