I'm a firm believer that everyone has a "geek" obsession. Something that, but society's standards, would make them "uncool". Stuff that maybe you don't want to lead with when you first meet a girl.

I avidly play and practice classical clarinet, and I really like watching anime fan-subs.

What's yours?

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

some "girly" music, some "girly" drinks, I play some D&D RPGs on my computer on occasion, that I wouldnt openly admit to a girlfriend that I do. And most recently, I've taken up Anime as a previously undiscovered form of loved entertainment.

I always thought that crap was for kids, but the movie series Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal, and Samurai X: Reflections, is some of the deepest, most entertaining stuff Ive seen in cinema.

Those are my geeky "vices" :D

I don't really consider any of my hobbies or tastes "geeky". It's part of who I am and what I like.

However, if you really want something, I like the band Shampoo.

I'm a geek in lots of things and I'm quite proud of that. I do php, c++ and pascal programming, web-design, I'm a web standards geek, I know about computers and the internet, I can assemble 12 comps and then hook them up to a network, I'm a music geek, somewhat of a computer hardware geek, D&D crpgs rock, cartoons are a passion of mine since they're really a great form of art and I intend to go for a cartoon making, web developing or game developing career.
It's what I do, why should I care if any of the stuff I do makes me look 'uncool'?

It shouldn't. I'm just curious as to people's geeky sides. I guess if anything this'll make me more confident. (ie - If the computer geek can pull chicks, so can I, etc. etc.)

MY reality
I play computer games...and I really don't care if that makes me a geek or not, because most computer games out right now are 100 times better than the best console game out there. Period.

Let the flames begin

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I play D&D and read marvel comics. And i am an avid Liverpool FC fan.

sports is just the socially accepted male geeky interest, but it is still geeky.

Other things people may think geeky but I consider refined is my interest in classical music, Buddhism and philosophy and stuff like history of ancient civilizations, stuff on animal planet and such ( can spend hours watching that).

Lots of my hobbies are geeky...

It's just comes down to basic social skills. For example I like math, but I won't bring up that technically, the "world series" is a "sequence" and not a series. ;)

Adjust yourself and stop worrying what other people think.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

I'm pretty geeky about music and books.

However, I've been able to turn it around into a positive. When I have a girl over I play all sorts of really good music for her and I get really excited about it (which in turn gets HER excited about it.)

Half the time I end up sitting behind my drums and playing along to the really cool stuff, like Tower of Power. Girls dig that.

I'm also kind of geeky about books. Yet again, as long as I talk excitedly and not in some nerdy, ashamed fashion, it makes me seem cooler.

Luckily, I'm not into video games or anime, or D and D. I don't know if I'd be able to turn that around and make it cool. But good luck with that.

shoot if all this stuff is uncool I must be one of the most uncool people here yet I manage to survive and hang out with the 'cool' kids.

I play video games alot
listen to country music
study alot
do up research papers for fun
read up on ancient cultures (big books maybe 800+ pages a book)
collect McD toys (yeah I know)
metal detect during the summer
stamp collect
coin collect
visit this site
and alot of other things

it is all how you handle yourself and don't make a big freaken deal and you will be fine. I made this mistake this year and I'm just getting over it.

S.F. when it was good:
Star Trek (pre Berman and Braga)
Doctor Who
Blake's 7
Space 1999
ect.
I was a science fiction fan way before there was a sci-fi channel so back then you really had to be into it to be considered a geek.
Also was into anime before everyone and their sister knew what it was. I miss those days. Now it seems like anime fan's standards have lowered.

I'm great with computers.

I've been known to play the video games.

I don't know if it counts but I also read a lot of financial/stock market literature.
