I've been in the ghetto in my city... you have hookers, drug dealers, people with knife, people jump on you and punch you... the only time saw a gun is when the police jumped on someone.

The police sometimes do get shoot at in the hood by criminals but it's usually a rare event and it involve the police having shoot a gangster.

Covid did make things worst here... like the USA, we saw an increase of 50% in gun crimes. We went from 71 shooting to 144 in 1 year, alot of teenagers involved in gangs

I lived in two different hoods for a total of about 5 years. Both were gang controlled (Bloods). It was not uncommon to hear random gunshots, and drive-by shootings happened occasionally. I’m a white guy and the neighborhood was predominantly black. I never owned a gun and never had any problems, but my freedom of movement was extremely limited after dark. I was more concerned about stray bullets going through my window or some dumb kid trying to prove something. On several occasions I considered buying a gun but never did.

europe broadly has gun control. It’s 500M people. The US has gun ownership and is 320M.

that’s 2 different data sets of equivalent size and similar demographics, education levels etc.

compare those two and see what you find.

VIetnam is a bit rich, given over a million people died directly as the result of the US government who were several thousands of miles from home, and fighting against an overwhelming consensus.

If you’re seriously listing the Vietnamese death toll as the fault of communism, you might want to read up on it. You can add in the couple hundred thousand Japanese women and children fried alive by atomic bombs too, if we’re going back that far.
