No. He's a white knight. Losing your cool in front of billions of people and risking going to jail for assault (over a joke) is not masculine. Also he couldn't keep other men out of his wife's mouth so it was probably some frustration spilling over.

Only reason for resorting to fisticuffs is self-defense. If he wanted to make a stand he could have gotten up and left with his wife, or refused the Oscar, but he didn't do that, did he.
