What is Bio-Oil?
Bio-Oil is a specialist skincare product developed to help improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Its advanced formulation also makes it extremely effective for numerous other skin concerns. It helps promote even skin tone, nourishes ageing skin and provides intensive lubrication to dry, flaky skin. Bio-Oil is a rapidly absorbed “dry” oil and leaves no oily residue.
Bio-Oil contains the unique ingredient PurCellin Oil™, vitamins A and E, Calendula, Lavender and Rosemary oils and Chamomile extract. It contains no preservatives and is suitable for all skin types.
What makes Bio-Oil so effective?
Bio-Oil contains a combination of Vitamin A and Vitamin E, Calendula, Lavender and Rosemary oils, and Chamomile extract. The proven benefits of these key ingredients, for numerous skin conditions, are well-known and have been widely researched and documented. However, these ingredients are not specific to Bio-Oil.
What differentiates Bio-Oil is its breakthrough ingredient, PurCellin Oil™.
The PurCellin Oil™ Discovery
The PurCellin Oil™ breakthrough provided the long-awaited solution to a problem facing oil-based skincare in general.
Throughout history, oils have always been one of the most effective agents for the treatment and care of the skin, since they provide an extremely stable storage environment for vitamins and other key ingredients. However, due to their occlusive nature and thick consistency, oils have generally been unable to provide adequate skin penetration, with the result that most of the oil and its active ingredients is not delivered to where it is needed. For years scientists searched for the solution to this problem.
In the 1950's, numerous research projects were commissioned in an attempt to develop an oil with similar properties to the human skin's natural oil. In the end it was the study of the duck's preening habits that provided the clue!
During preening, a duck secretes oil from its preen gland and distributes it over its entire plumage in the familiar twisted neck action that one associates with ducks. This preen gland oil creates a thin, non-greasy layer on the surface of the feathers without which water would not pearl off and the bird would struggle to swim. Clearly an oil with interesting properties – an oil that protects the feathers from damage, maintains their sheen and suppleness and yet is neither sticky nor greasy!
Upon studying the composition of the preen gland oil, skincare scientists discovered that it was possible to develop a laboratory copy of this unique “dry” oil for use on human skin. And, after a number of years of research and testing, the breakthrough was finally made – PurCellin Oil™ was introduced as a scientific recreation of preen gland oil.

As to where to buy it at here in the United States... I have no idea. I went to their website and it doesn't say anything about it being sold in the US.

Hopefully I can find a place to buy it on the net but then again there could be freakin import laws so the drug companies here can make more money selling sh!tty stuff.
Sounds very promising though. I was looking at prices and similar things go for over $200 here. So hopefully if I can find it it will also be cheaper.
