Anyone here know some good sites for music theory, learning chords, all of that for guitar, piano, whatever. I've been playing a lot of guitar and have gotten pretty good, but now i need to start learning the names of all the chords, the theory behind them etc. Any help would be great, thanks.

Fry this site:

http://www.zentao.com/guitar/

It goes over everything from guitar anatomy to tabature to chords and ending up with actual music theory. All including lessons for every experience level.

Have fun!

I'm a music major, and good textbooks are Gouldin and Piston (use piano notation though, which is still a good practice also). Not sure about online resources but I've seen many good ones before. Knock yourself out.

Start with Peliminary Rudiments. Then move to Grade 1, then Grade 2, then Grade 3 Harmony, and so on and so forth (up to Grade 5).

I'm taking Grade 3 Harmony right now along wtih Grade 3 history.
