There is some Matriarchy in some of the family dealings, mostly because the Eldest Family member is Female (Aunt Polly). the Socialist leanings of the boys' sister creates difficulty for the family too. While there is some bravado that meets aggression headon the cool thinking and backdoor diplomacy the show features is the real lesson to learn.

It's funny you mentioned this because when I saw a black guy on the show, I was wondering how realistic this was back in 1911 for them to be mingling or friends with the white folks. LOL
Funny, Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) has already porked 3 hot women in the show. Now in Season 4, there is an attractive union leader chick who I guarantee he will bone.
His character is the classic example of the indifferent (I don't need you) attitude that women seem to love. He is not needy at all and has the take or leave it attitude and the women end up chasing him.
We can try and learn from his character...lol

I'm only on season two but the three women he did were all employed by him. I'm thinking that added to his power/confidence. All of them were paid somehow and he definitely had wealth/status/power on his side. Can't say without those if he might've had a different attitude or outcome.

Since this is fresh with me since I just started watching it. Tommy actually $hit tested his brother's fiancee(the prostitute he was seeing due to ptsd) by offering her a few hundred dollars or whatever amount it was back then to sleep with him before she married his brother. She took the money and failed the test. He told his brother about her failed test and eventually ended up arranging a marriage with one of their rival daughters with his brother to join forces.
