I genuinely disagree with this statement.Legs are the most resilient muscle to work on, you cannot approach them the same way you approach the rest of your body
I train not more than 8 sets per muscle, per week and have gotten fantastic results off 2-4 sets per muscle per week. 20 per week is junk volume; you need to train with higher intensity (closer proximity to failure) if this is you.Very generally speaking, the figure most give is 20 sets a muscle at working weight per week.
TUT does almost nothing for muscle gain. The single biggest factor to muscle growth is mechanical tension (heavier weight), ideally trained within the 6-12 rep range.Time under tension is also great
Careful trusting Renaissance Periodization. They train their elites to failure, yet their training program continues to push keeping reps in reserve. I wonder why that is..?
^Because training to failure is the most beneficial form of training. The last 5 reps to failure are the most beneficial, but with increasing benefit the closer the muscle is trained to failure
The below video is one you should trust more than Mike Israetel (who I love, but cannot recommend as a training coach).
