I think the disease subplot has all but vanished.
I don't think that it has really vanished totally, as right now the audience is left unsure of whether the sickness was really real. The only one who seems to be sure that it exists is Rousseu. Desmond injected himself for years until he saw his partner go out with a rip in his hazmat suit and then later take it off. Was the whole sickness thing a method of control cooked up by Dharma. If so, why was Rousseu so convinced of it that she killed her whole crew (though maybe SHE was the one with the sickness, or she just went insane...).

There are tons of side plots and unexlained mysteries that have been brought once or twice and then seemingly forgotten about about (like the damn foot statue!). But I agree with Ever Onward that the writers will come back to these threads in due time. It's just bloody hard to wait.

Desmond realized that the whole hazmat suit was a gimmick when he caught Kelvin fixing the boat to escape. The whole innoculation sequence was to keep Desmond docile, nothing more.

True, very true. I forgot about that. So maybe it was a hoax....but that doesn't explain Rosseau...

Now you got me thinking about what else Rosseau said in Season 1. Remember how she said she hadn't seen the Others but she "could hear them". And then there was a few times when Sayid and Sawyer were in the jungle alone and they heard the whispers....my point is that I think the Others were originally intended to be more super natural but then plot line seemed to change course.

Remember how the Others circled Jack and the group and Tom told his people to: "Light 'em up." They're very good at keeping watch without being noticed so I think that's what they've been doing all along. Watching. Also the pirates from the Black Rock haven't totally been accounted for.

You make some good points Karma.

My problem is I always associate The Others with Ben and so I write them off as a known quantity. But you are absolutely right, they were on the Island before anyone else and their mystery has yet to be explained.

Damnit. Just when I think I have things wrapped up with a nice little bow on top I find myself back at square two.

So Claire doesn't make it as one of the six. I'm quite certain that Aaron will not be counted as one of the six because he was still kicking around in her apartment. Whether he was on the manifest or not is irrelevant.

And I noticed that Locke picked Philip K. D1ck as the author for Ben to read and remember if he "missed something." I know one thing for certain, NOTHING is left to chance in the world of Lost. It's great because of the guessing, second guessing and labyrinthian roads we need to cross and re- cross in order to try and get a temporary conclusion.

im not certain if aaron will be considered one of the six or not... he wasnt alive during the crash, and wasn't on the manifest, however was born right after the crash... documentation could show that his mother was expecting.. so he could be grandfathered into the "oceanic six" as far as a category is concerned... seeing that they had to rescue him also.

Maybe Jacob is Zebra, and Walt is Sophia.

Time Loop Theory.

Something has been stuck in my craw ever since Charlotte was shot and survived by wearing the bulletproof vest. She was the only one who wore it. Why? Why would she have the foresight to wear a flakjacket unless she had already been shot and this is her loop back around?

It explains quite a bit if you really think about it.

It would explain Faraday weeping when he was watching the news. It would explain Miles being "psychic". Perhaps he knew that the kid was killed and had an idea of his stash and went to the house under the pretense of ridding the house of his presence. Though I cannot explain the sound coming from the stash hole behind the bookcase? Nevertheless, it helps to make some sense of Desmond turning up naked and having visions. Maybe he had been in the loop before and had already seen what happens?

I think Ben is the mastermind behind the time loops and has the ability to move in and out of them which would keep him 12 steps ahead of everyone else.

Oh, and I wholeheartedly believe Frank was looking at his own self in the wreckage under the water. He was the pilot in that downed craft and this is his loop back in time.

i think you are on to something there karma ... i can totally buy the whole time loop theory. i knew there was an issue with time and space, but it never really occurred to me that there would be a loop. it makes perfect sense now.

The pilot on Oceanic 815 was Matt the Mind Reader from "Heroes".

so i have a new theory on the oceanic 6..
if you take the names of the official press release for the season , it gives a list of all the stars of the show.
micheal and walt are not even listed, although we see walt from time to time.
when jack tells the story of how only 8 survived the crash, i believe micheal and walt will be the two that got away.

that leads us to dissect the list of stars.
we take away charlie because he is dead.
we already know jack, kate, hurley and sayid are 4 of the oceanic 6.
we take away juliet, desmond and ben as they were not oceanic 815 people.
we now know that kate will have aaron when they return, so we take claire away and assume she has died before she would part with her baby, and that kate is going to lie and say she had this child on the island.. we will not count him as oceanic 6 for right now for this list we are making.
we take locke away and assume that he will not leave the island and because of the way hurley spoke, i just don't see it.
we assume that sun has those bad things happen just as all the other pregnant people on the island and assume she meets her fate.
we are left with sawyer and jin as the only two remaining stars who could be named oceanic 6.

Sorry Gio, Frank himself knew for certain that it was not his buddy who was fish food on t.v.

He knows who it was not but he'll come to see that he was looking at himself in the future.

"Because I was supposed to fly Oceanic 815 that day!"

Those were his words. He is caught in his own time loop. Which would explain how one Oceanic 815 ended up in the South Pacific and another in the Indian Ocean. Same plane, different time loops.

I'm talking about the pilot who actually flew the plane that crashed on the island, and then became Monster Chow in the first or second episode. It's hard to tell because the bodies were so decomposed who the pilot was supposed to look like in the underwater plane. But the pilot who actually did fly the plane was Matt from "Heroes".

But here's the part that gets me. Look at a map. Look at Sydney Australia. Now look at Los Angeles. Tell me how a plane going from Sydney to LA ends up in the Indian Ocean. I don't care how much of a storm you were in or how off course you got blown -- how sh*tty of a pilot do you have to be? That's like going from St. Louis to New York City and ending up in Seattle.

Oh, I didn't think you were talking about the real life actor. I don't care for Heroes. It's hokey and stupid.

Back to Lost, I think that both planes were on the same loop at the same time only on different octaves or wavelengths. Who knows where they were actually coming from as one 815 had one pilot and the other had the Heroes guy.

Besides, this would explain why Faraday implored Frank to not vary from his course back to the freighter FOR ANY REASON! Because veering off course could possibly get them caught in a temporal loop.
