Well, i just finished reading the book Siddhartha in my senior year English class and, even though i didnt particularly like the book, it has much to do with DJ'ism and Sosuave.

For anyone who hasnt read it, its about a young, rich, handsome boy who, despite all of his advantages in life, is hungry for enlightenment. He gives up everything he has in his quest for it and eventually attains it.

These are some themes of Siddartha from Sparknotes.com, and two from my class discussion
  • The Search for Spiritual Enlightenment
  • Inner vs. Exterior Guidance
  • Live in the Present
  • Live on Your Own Path

These sound familiar huh?

There are many more DJ'isms throughout the book too.

I highly recommend reading this book because it can seriously change the way you think about life. Do it!

Edit: Thread idea was made from reading Embraces Enlightenment post, thanks!

Yes, there definitely is a lot in common between buddhism and djism.

I read that book in one sitting when I picked it up years ago. It was amazing, I couldn't put it down. It was about 8 or 9 hours straight. But yeah, I never put that correlation together, but it is very similar to being a DJ. Don't worry about yourself, don't ask too many questions, just have fun, be true to yourself and the rest follows.

Yeah, I suppose you're onto something there. Of course, in Buddhism, to be onto something is to be nowhere at all.

I suppose I always looked at Buddhism as about letting go of everything - including women and the urges to be with them. Not that that stops them from wanting to be with us.

Thats true, in the book when Siddartha pursues a women, he becomes weak and loses his motivation (AFC)
