Had to mention this after tonight, hokey smokes that was an intense episode.
A little too dark to see what was going on at times though.

I'm sure some here will complain that the females came off looking too strong in this one, but regardless of that I thought it was pretty awesome.

Don't watch the show, never have. Chicks love it because there's so many strong women and a lot of drama. Glad I am missing out

I've never once watched it, but people are totally obsessed with it. Makes me want to watch it less.

I feel out of place at many social events simply because I do not watch all these modern day shows on HBO, Showtime, etc. It's all people talk about.

I have had multiple people tell me that if you don't watch GoT, I feel sorry for you. Then other people will declare that if you did not enjoy such and such episode, then you are a miserable human being.

I guess people enjoy being sheep, so they think everyone else does? The arrogance of those statements in mind boggling to me.

I watched it and didnt mind it even tough the amount of girl power stuff and annoying things is getting worse and worse as the seasons go by.

The most annoying things are valuable warriors doing stupid things and die not even to save a woman but just to please her or help her in some other equally stupid action.

Back in the 90s as a kid I was told plenty of times that a single man with a machine gun cant overcome an entire army by himself, right now skinnyfat out of shape girls are encouraged to pick up a fight with a man twice their weight for no reason with the confidence they will win.

"You watch too much tv" its a line Im not hearing around from many years.

I'm really beginning to question the taste of the people on this forum. First there's a thread attacking the MCU movies, and now people can't appreciate GoT. I mean if you can't appreciate Game of Thrones, all I can say is WTF? I understand Danger's comments because there is a bit of "girlpower" influence present (as in most things these days), even though I disagree with his overall conclusion.

There were girls who fought, and those who didn't/couldn't (like $ansa). The ones who did, I thought made sense, because Arya had extensive training, Lyanna was a tough northerner, and Brienna was a tomboy who always wanted to be a knight. Dany was effective with her dragons, not so much with a sword.

Game of Thrones is easily the best TV series I have ever seen. I don't get people here wanting to sh!t on it, especially if they haven't seen it. Smh. Anyway, Danger, I thought this particular climax was quite satisying, even thouhh there are three episodes to go.. Not perfect, because I would have appreciated a little more nuance to the Night King. If GRRM ever gets off his @ss to finish the books, I expect the story will be a little more in depth.

I hear you Zekko, and I love the books. But as someone who has read them all I can recognize that the directors have clearly inserted their corrupt and predictable Hollywood leftist agenda all over here.
To be fair, GRRM includes some of the girlpower stuff in his books too. I'm reading Fire and Blood now, and it's definitely present there. Of course it's more subtle than what's on film. That stuff doesn't ruin the story for me though.

I got kind of a kick out of Lyanna, where you were irritated. I agree it was silly for her to fight, but she paid for it. She was ruler of her house, and who was going to tell her she couldn't? And while she took out the giant, it was a last minute desperate act as she was dying, so I can waive that. Regarding Arya, she had the most extensive training in stealth of anyone there probably, so if anyone was going to sneak up on or past the wights, it would be her.

Lousy military planning, I agree. If Jon Snow was wanting to take the throne, he couldn't have planned it better. It looks like Dany's armies were mostly wiped out. I would have defended the walls.

I'm glad they dispensed with the Night King now, and Cersei is left as the ultimate villain. I thought they were going to end the episode with the showdown between NK and Bran, and continue it next week, which I'm thankful they didn't do.

Regarding killing the heroes, Walking Dead started out this way also, and as time went on they've backed off of it. People get attached to the characters and don't want to see them die. Jorah Mormont was the biggest loss for me last night, the ultimate orbiter lol.

What made GoT popular WAS the killing of the main heros. Nobody was safe. They abandoned it totally and now it's garbage just like everything else.
What I like about GoT is how the characters are flawed but likable. Except for the villains, of course, who are easy to hate.
For example, Ned Stark, an early favorite was honorable to a fault, and his stupidity got him killed, because he wouldn't play the manipulative game.

There was a theory going around last week that the Night King actually was going to King's Landing first, would kill everybody down there, and then march to Winterfell with an even larger army for the ultimate battle.

Bronn was a scum and became likeable. Same with the Hound.
True. Although Bronn may be going back to scum again lol.

As for the deaths, the ones that impacted me the most recently was Jorah's last night, and Viserion last season. That one killed me.

Honestly, I did not sh*t on the show. I sh*t on people like you who say the things similar to what I bolded above.

GOT is one of the greatest epics ever made for me

And it's not the story, the dragons or the hocus pocus (which I could do without)

It's the character development & how complex the human heart really is

That's GRRM's greatest achievement

It makes everything else seem so black & white

Read the books, so I lost interest after season 5 as I know they deviated from RRM’s plot. The writers simply aren’t up to scratch (nor can that be expected from them).

Let’s just hope the old man doesn’t die before giving us the story we crave.

Honestly I would have written the scene where it would be Jamie who died defending Danerys. There would have been so much more deeper meaning in that, especially considering he killed her Father.
Wouldn’t have made sense. Jaime killed the mad king out of duty and righteousness. Just because it now fits into this new narrative doesn’t make it just or fitting.

Also sandor clegane the hound was never hated, his character development in books 4 and 5 made him my favourite character (along with Arya of course).

The series is too rushed, the books are too in depth and the character development and internal monologues too vast to cram all into a single series. That’s why I never loved GoT compared to ASOIAF.

The tower of joy scene in the original book GoT alludes to Jon Snow being Aegon Targaryen so I’m sat here knowing all along what they build up to in Series 8, pathetic. The whole series just frustrated me so I kept out of conversations soo wouldn’t come across as that pretentious f4g however I studied the plot deeply so it’s best I stayed silent all these years.

I’m sure I remember prodrick and Brienne being hanged, or maybe just Pod, at the end of one of the books. Catherine turning to lady stoneheart, Ramsay Bolton making his dogs rape that women (his wife?) just too much deviation from the books for my liking.

I found the hounds early child killing interesting, he was always a favourite of mine. Arya’s chapters were by far the best throughout the whole thing. Thinking about it, the books will never be finished.

I remember RRM saying he would help write/guide series 6 onwards but they would deviate from his original ideas of the books, so I lost interest.

He could finish them if he set his mind to it. But he doesn't appesr to be willing to do that. I think he said he had two more books planned, but at the pace he had set, two more books isn't going to do it. So yeah, he'll probably never finish it.

That's why the series picks up pace in season 7, to bring things to a conclusion. Plus they had passed up the books in timeline. The TV series is probably the only place you will be able to see the story end.

I completely enjoyed it, don't know where all this venom of the actresses is coming from but I find it all tastefully done.

They were all feminine in their roles, even the tomboy, she fought with the guile of a female and not something outwardly masculine.

Kudos to the film maker.

It was another epic, fantastic, masterpiece from GOT.

After the masterpiece they released last week, this week's episode was really sloppily written. Guess they blew their load on the Battle of Winterfell.
You could argue that the pro-feminist stuff took a big hit though.
I didn't like what they did here at all.

My big gripe about the battle of winterfell wasn't the constant preacbing though, it was 8 seasons of the dark night and the wall, and the Night King loses his first big battle. Wtf.

This episode was alright, wasn't expecting another dragon to die, so that was interesting.
Ever since they've passed up the timeline of the novels, and are engaging less with GRRM, they've been going at breakneck speed to finish the story. Meanwhile, GRRM's pace is more like a sloth, and wanting to add in more complications as he goes.

We've literally seen the dragons grow up from babies, so I hate it when they kill one. It's like losing a family pet.

The whole thing is very sloppy and rushed.

Like someone said previously, this is prob the only chance to see the conclusion of this story though.

GRRM needs to employ some helpers, they can double as escorts to suck the old man off for all I care, he needs to step it up because this isn't how it's supposed to go down. If he every does finish I bet someone picks the rest of the story up for TV and has a spinoff/alternate reality, that's the best scenario

Without the main villain that would force these idiots together, the whole story is kind of ruined for me.
Cersei's the main villain, at least on TV, and it almost looks like they want to make Daenerys the main villain next.

I'd chip in a few cents, but the more he writes, the longer the story gets. I don't think he can overcome his own tendencies enough to finish. This is the same reason I never read Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, because I never thought he'd finish, and he didn't (and yes, I know it's highly recommended. Maybe someday. I'm a slow reader though, and all the individual books are long too, so I doubt that I would even be able to finish reading it).

Eh , the very first scene of GoT was about the white walkers, so I disagree they aren't supposed to be the primary villain.
Well, they were following the books more closely at first. But whatever. Apparently the last villain is going to be Cersei and/or Dany.

I've never enjoyed a story so much but been so soured by the ending. As much as I liked episode 3, I hated episode 4 more.

It's funny how you look at Dany and compare her to season 1, so young and fresh, really shows you how 8 years can effect someone.

Sansa on the other hand has turned out gorgeous. She's only 1 year older than Arya IRL too, great casting for Arya as Arry was always meant to be an ugly little boy.

The circle of life.
