Cashiers don't make eye contact with me?

I don't really go shopping alot, but I just went shopping for some clothes and I noticed that cashiers (girls 15-20 something) never make eye contact with me when I'm paying. Sometimes regular workers will come and ask me if I need help or whatever, but when I pay they never make eye contact. Whats up with that? Is that normal?

I'm still new to the DJ thing and I don't have much field experience, but what do you guys think about this?

maybe they are little to buissy trying make sure you don't stif them. or could it be your not looking at them at that perticular time.

i get such a kick out of this site. Anyways, i worked retail for a long period of time, and now that you mention it, no we do not look at out customers when we are ringing them up, we solely look at those customers when we are on the floor selling. There's no time to look at a customer, think about it, there is so much going on that they have to keep track of (i.e: removing sensors, taking hangers off, making sure the right amount of items is being rung up etc). Trust me, i was told a lot of time i was rude for not looking at the customer in the eye. So next time you go shopping, don't take it personally

F0k them if they don't give you eye contact, do what i... er.. my friends do. If you shop for clothes and there are some hot sale girl in the store. 1) go ask her to get that shirt or pants that hangs way way up the ceiling and ask her to get it for you because you can reach em. 2) now check out the package *wink* 3) If you like what you see then now is the time to try and make eye contact.

If the she refuse to make eye contact with you, its time to move on to the next girl.

uhmmm checking out tha package... wow... makes me wonder about all those times asked me for the displays on the mannequins and I had to get up on the ladder...wow thanx for the insight

what's with all the new cashier threads?

and...i wouldn't worry if they don't make eyecontact with you. i personally would much rather they ring me up right than to chat them up.

as cute as they may be sometimes, i have run into too many situations where i've started chatting with them, and then i check my receipt as i'm heading out to see that they charged me wrong. it's a pain.

Now that I think about it this makes alot of sense, since some of them actually approach me for help when not on the till.
