I think I might have this. One week I'll be feeling totally on top of the world and everything. The next I'll be feeling like crap and be afraid to talk to anyone. It seems to go in cycles. Is this normal?

Anyone who knows something about this please help.

I have a friend who has bi-polar disorder. You should not seek for advice on a forum for that: you should consult a physician. Stop wasting time online, and do it.

Actually, I'd recommend a psychologist followed by a psychiatrist if needed - however, Engetsu is right in saying that nobody on an online forum is going to be qualified enough to accurately diagnose you with manic depression (aka "bi-polar disorder").

Dude, there is only one person who can diagnose if and what you have. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT take the advice of anyone but a health professional when it comes to your physical and mental wellbeing. If you think there is something messed with your brain then you need to go see a psychiatrist! Don't think bad about it, just go do it. BiPolar can be a very debilitating disease and if you have it a doctor can perscribe medication that will bring you back.

the "high" in manic-depressives is not an "I feel great!!" feeling, it's more like a person who has drank a lot of coffee, eaten lots of candy, and done some speed. It's really them jumping up and down, off the walls type.

i agree with dr metallica , the high is like wanting to clean everything you see while multi tasking everything else at the same time

making lists of things to do , that like occupy your entire lifetime

and i have seen the mania in my manic depressive friend who honest to god will inventory everything she owns
starting with dvds and cds and end with the last white sock
and then she makes a to buy list....
