Long story short: Mom's cousin showed my picture to a gal who worked in the building she cleans and showed my pic to her. The girl likes what she saw and doesn't care I am 45. 17 years is a big gap, but at least it's not 20+. Should I proceed? She looks like a solid 7.

She also lives about 1.5 hours away.

It is worth it for precedent. I always made chicks further than 30 minutes meet me halfway the first time. I’d rather her turn me down or flake up front than spend a couple dates going to her only to find out later she’s not willing to reciprocate the travel.

I disagree, I will not double text. It took me 30 minutes to respond since I was on a phone call.

She either has Low IL or she is playing games.

She might still text back at this point who knows.

In my last text, I did ask her a question (about what town she is in). I don't think it's anything I said/did that turned her off.

I can drive myself nuts trying to figure out why she didn't return my text and it could be any of the following.

1.) She never had any intention of meeting up with me to begin with, just wanted to see if an attractive older guy would reach out to her and boost her ego

2.) Shes having second thoughts about the 17 year age gap and got cold feet.

3.) An ex-boyfriend or another guy she has HIGH IL interest in got in touch with her the last few days.

4.) She just sucks at texting and takes awhile to get back to people.

We all know women who have ghosted us or disappeared, only to reappear out of nowhere days, weeks or months later.

By not initiating another text with them, it shows strength and attractiveness in their eyes.

Keep that in mind.
In today's volatile market even a solid 7 is never single even if she is not having sex they just decide to give you a shot because you were a mystery to unravel and she liked you better than the rest for the moment.

Let her respond. When she does, reply by calling her later that day. Dont ask her just call.
Get her to talk on the phone.
Better if it's night time during the week when you call her. Put some low good music in the background. You can definitely match some energy and chemistry on the first call with a chick if you got the confidence and social skills
Be the one to cut off the call. Tell her you gotta go take a business meeting yes even at night or whatever. Take away the bone and get her to want more from you.

From my experience, when a chick is familiar with your voice she is more inclined to meet up with you quicker rather than just texting.

It looks like this whole ordeal is over after a couple of texts.

Somebody here at home has a good theory:

She didn't mind in theory that I was 17 years older than her, but when I texted her and reached out, it became "real" and she got "cold feet"

I think 15 years max age difference is probably the most you want to go anyhow. Anything over 15 years things look wierd and it is looked down by society.

I personally know quite a few men who are dating/married to women 10 to 15 years younger, but only know of ONE case where there is greater than 15 years age difference.
