I would say an hour per day is definitely is overkill unless you do really light workouts. 45 min 3-4x a week is optimal for most strength building routines imo.
True. I also include a quick 15 minute cardio warm up and stretching before I lift. But you are right, if you are just lifting, 45 minutes is about right.

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: Yes, but...

I honestly believe it doesn't matter if you are muscular or not. I know tons of guys who are skinny or even a bit chubby who do well with the ladies.

Being muscular is something you do for yourself. It raises your confidence and that's what's attractive to women.

But there are girls who are into muscular men. That's true. There are also girls who kick on guys who can beat other guys up. This isn't the majority imo and experience.

This being said.. hitting the gym has been one of the best decisions of my life. Never felt better and it shows.

Well, here's the truth. Anecdotal "evidence" from 2 or 3 anonymous forum members isn't the way to go about forming a conclusion.

I could cite dozens of examples, even from a single night out, of muscleheads who are not getting any action, hence the term gymcels.

Absolutely.. I am aware of many men who have lost there gains & fitness level simply because the gym is closed.

BULLSHIIT.. You don't need a gym at all.. You can run outdoors, you can climb some fukin hills.. You can go cycling.. You can workout with resistant bands.. You can squat, do press ups, sit ups, crunches.

Hell you can play a couple of hundred dollars or pounds & buy some used dumbells & a bench.
Yeah but I like the gym. Home workouts blow. I do them but it's boring. I would buy a weight set but I have no place to put it at the moment. I do ride a bike and play basketball, however. Hate running outside for various reasons.

Not to mention the deranged, mentally ill homeless who have colonized all local parks and rec trails.

If that's not enough to deter you, there are the millions of masked zombies out and about creeping up anything and everything.

The outdoors is truly a nightmare.

I have to disagree here. You can’t maintain strength without lifting heavy shvt. No amount of bands and press ups are going to substitute for deadlifting 500 lbs. Unless you’re moving boulders or truck tires I’d encourage men to either build a home gym with a power rack or find a way back into a commercial gym.
You don't need to deadlift 500 lbs to maintain size. Coming from a guy who used to deadlift 600 lbs.

You can hold onto muscle mass & retain your gains for several months if you stay on top of your diet.

And if you incoperate other types of fitness activities as I mentioned earlier.

In the last 11 months, I have been to the gym for only roughly 3-4 weeks.

Other than that.. I bought a bench & 2x dumbells weighing 22kg each.

Most of my cardio was cycling.. I also did 50 daily press ups, chin ups & squats with my dumbells.. Lots of dips for my triceps & bicep curls with lighter weights, applying very slow focused reps.

My diet has been tight.. 4/5 meals daily, high protein & low carbs.. And good fats only.

During lockdown & without having access to the gym, I have gotten in fantastic shape.

Gained a considerable amount of muscle without needing any seriously heavy weight at all.

Training from home being boring is no excuse.. Training, exercise should be your lifestyle with or without a gym.

Do whatever works for you. Although I believe weight/resistance/strength training of some kind is essential, to answer your question, no, it doesn't give you an advantage in dating.

It's just too easy to find endless examples of jacked guys who aren't getting laid.

Yes and no. I grew up playing soccer my whole life so was very lean with a 6 pack. Then I quit and gained weight. When I got serious with weightlifting, I undoubtedly got attention from the ladies but not as much as when I was lean. I never got back to having a ripped stomach and it seems like a 6 pack is what all the women are after. Everything else is supplemental. Not knocking whatsoever either. I still lift heavy and I'm pretty broad but like @RangerMIke said, I'll never get back to what I looked like in my early 20s nor am I trying to.

Same man gyms have all been pretty much shut for a year here in London. In the beginning, I was using my dumbells and doing squats etc but the lockdown prolonged, the stress of starting my own business crept in and I have not lifted anything for a few months and I've been eating **** (prob comfort eating).

Anyway, I woke this morning early and worked out for 40 min at home, all from reading the first 2 pages of this thread.

Just keep in mind you will need to progressively increase the weight load on your muscles to create the tissue damage needed for growth. Performing body-weight calisthenics is great for general practical strength and mental well-being, but will not add size and bulk.

And don’t listen to anyone saying “muscles don’t matter, I know skinny/fat guys who pull supermodels every night” etc. Your physical appearance matters. Your musculature matters. Your height matters. Your face matters. Your haircut matters. Your fashion matters. It matters. Optimize what you can optimize. It makes absolutely zero sense to intentionally handicap yourself by being scrawny or fat. I just don’t get the “it doesn’t matter” mentality, or why that’s good advice. It absolutely matters, especially these days.

Perfectly stated.. Any type of improvements you make to increase you're SMV has to matter in the dating game.

That is not reality. Its not about what YOU control, it’s about what the market wants. Women prioritize a 6’ man over a <6’ man if everything else is equal. That is a fact.
Most women even lots of 5" wants at least 6".. But mostly settle for 5"10 as the available men at 6" as scarce as 10%, world population.. women will fight over 6" tall men over anything else and will only go to shorter men with financial and status if lack of heights.

I explained why in a separate post in this thread. There are biological/evolutionary reasons why women are attracted to men like this. I also know tall, rich, good-looking guys who are total dorks with no game and can't get laid to save their life, so that argument doesn’t fly.

Woman are not initially attracted to dad bods, doughy guys, or overly skinny guys. They're just NOT. Now, they may settle for one because that's all they can get or some women do prefer these guys because they don't get hit on by women so the girl doesn’t have to worry about him cheating.

Some of these posts I read sound like excuses; hate working out at home, too many homeless people, gyms are closed or unsafe, whatever.

Look, not everyone has the self-discipline and drive to stay in great shape. I get that. I'm not perfect either. BUT, if you're serious about it, you can make it happen.

Since COVID-19 hit in March of 2020, I've put my gym membership on hold and have been working out in my garage 3-4 x week. I can do about 90% of what I was doing at the $126/month gym I was at. I always lift with the garage door open, sometimes at night when it’s in the 20’s or 30’s outside, and most are night workouts since October. I can see my breath when working out. I run before each workout to warm up and have a space heater in there but it's as Rocky IV as you can get.

So, the big question is: How bad do you want it? I'm willing to put in the hours and hard work to get results.

And if you "have no time?" Ok, let me ask you: How much time do you spend on your lame smartphone, surfing porn, chasing uninterested women, and watching some dumb show on Netflix? Probably a hell of a lot more than working out 3-4x week would take.

Every attraction variable is subjective bro.
For example:
*It helps if a man has money, but not all women are impressed by money.
* it helps if you dress well, but not all women care about a man’s fashion sense.
* it helps if you have a good sense of humour, but not all women are turned on funny men.
* it helps if you are good looking, but some dimes dont value that.
* It helps if you are famous, but some women dont want the headaches that come with fame.

***Similarly a mascular fit body has its benefits in the dating market, but it wont appeal to all women. Some prefer cuddly video-game basement dwellers who piss in coke cans because they cant be bothered pausing a game to walk a few steps to the bathroom.

Everything is subjective, nothing is cast in concrete

nice bro! I do my condo storage unit. It’s only 6X6, just enough for a power rack.
