I sometimes buy Christmas gifts from an import business in Florida. I got an email from them today that said:

Due to the recently imposed tariffs by the U.S. government on some of our key product categories, we have no choice but to raise the price of the effected goods to shoulder the added cost of importing these products.

This is great news.

How important are steel and aluminum to manufacturing and the military?

What is the risk of importing steel and aluminum from authoritarian governments?

What capabilities are key to having the world's strongest military?

I would say 1. Very, but now the defense budget is sure to increase; 2. We don't. We import from other nations whose governments may or may not be more authoritarian than ours. Does that mean the steel is more oppressed? I don't know. And 3. Continuing to fukk up the world as we have been, and getting bogged down in pointless quagmires. Have we declared victory in Afghanistan yet?

The USA is not just the military. There are also hundreds of millions of every day consumers affected. If this is some kind of national security issue, the DoD should pay the difference out of its budget.

Must everything be seen through the military-industrial complex goggles? More pigs at the trough as the country backslides.

In the USA... The military is around 10 millions jobs (direct and indirect).... mostly all to make a ''war against Russia''. It also the main employer in 70% of Republican voting states. It's labelled as ''security'' but who ever invaded the USA too far, too big, too many populations. Security is a big job provider.

Canada-Russia are necessary allies of the USA because we have ALL the ressources of the world including Fresh Water.

Russia supplies most of the energy of Europe... they just need to turn off the gaz valve and Europe going in a Energy Crisis

China and USA have alot of ressources (USA has alot more than China) but some strategic ressources are moslty in Canada and the USA.

China, USA, India will be bigger consumer than producers in a few decades (around 2050) due to aging population.à

The American-Build Chinese factories are starting to be ''outdated'' too, but they still much more modern than the USA ones.

Why do you think liberals support illegal/immigration? It's more than just vote!

In Canada, we have a shortgage of jobs especially in tourism, vacation industry (day camps), lifeguards, restaurants, farms, factories.... due to aging population and the ''white-european 1st world country problems of not wanting to do dirty jobs''.... They need immigrants to fill the spot.

Trump is great entertainement and I believe he's really smart in his dealings. However... it won't be enough to save his voting base industries. Time are changing.

Texas started booming after decades of crisis... why? They cut the minimun wages... They getting jobs back from China and using robots for the rest.

China been outsourcing productions to Vietnam and Thailand, Laos, Cambodge, Indonesia.... Wage in China are too high now.

True, it might have passed unnoticed in the USA but did you know Obama and Canada previous governement (Harper) and early Trudeau were actually having a diplomatic fight about Northen Canada (North Pole).
USA was declaring that Northen Canada belongs to the USA (even if it was our ''geographical rights'')... Why? The ice is melting up North.

Russia/Danemark/USA/Canada/Norwayare disputing the new North Pole trade routes. Canada has been adding military base in the North too.

The Panama Passage is losing traffic because its easier and faster to go up North now by boat to reach Asia.

The weather is shifting... Soon Mexico will be covered in Snow like Canada used to. New York had more snow than Canada for the past 5 years. Our canadian wildlife especially winter animals have been spotted in CostaRica.

Nobody denies "climate change". But they do challenge that it is man made.

The climate changed long before we were here, and it will change long after we are gone.

You know I am a Liberal-Conservative ... Fiscaly Conservatie - Liberal Socially.

Humans aren't responsible for climate change but they do make it worse (we see it in local communities).

What I don't buy is this: ''Earth is dying''.... Sure the Earth will die cause of the pollution... except... Earth is where we live... the foundations... Foundations usually last longer than its inhabitants after a crisis.
It's human who needs to be ''Saved'' not Earth.... Earth even if polluted... what's a 100year plastic bag lifetime compared to 5 billions years .

Earth will just ''rejunevate''.

Look at Chernobyl in Ukraine... Afer the nuclear reactor explosion... humans were forced out for decades... Now Chernobyl is full of wildlife and green space. Nuclear explosions are good for nature.

Humans are in ****, not the Earth... Earth will get by just fine.

Also these ''green technology'' I really believe in them... except you know what ? A Tesla is sure green when driving but its alot of dirt and pollutions to the chinese digging through mining the minerals needed for it.... Green for Occidentals, Massive pollution to Asians.

It's we are green... cause we pollute someone else.

Now ending my rent: Climate change is happening, there is human elements in it but it's natural and we will be the ones to suffer. Look at all the Weather crisis in the USA now... Weather is becoming BPD and extreme more often
