This is a really interesting development...could potentially be a finding that leads to autoimmune conditions being reversed, cured and prevented down the road...

I am sceptical about this. There is always some groundbreaking research happening but when it comes to market trials, these just vanish.
There was an award winning research some time ago that said that having gut parasites lowered the symptoms of autoimmune doses, even my professors talked about this and said that's why we should not take antibiotics and albendazol, unless prescribed by doctor. But now, there has been no wind of any development so far. I guess since big pharma can't sell parasites,so they don't want to invest in this research.

Has anyone else ever noticed that all of the big drugs from pharmaceuticals are focused on treating symptoms not causes?

There’s money in treating ongoing symptoms. There’s only so much you can charge cures.

Research and development dollars are not spent on cures. They are spent on developing drugs that you have to take for a long time if not forever. Unfortunately, this is the truth.

Promising research on curative compounds is often purchased by the pharmas and they shelve them, or say further research found it ineffective, effectively canceling them.

Cqn you imagine if there was a cure for diabetics that would render insulin obsolete? Do you think any pharmaceutical would ever want that to get out? Hah no, it would destroy billions of dollars of annual income.

The notion of "cures" themselves are something of a myth. It's possible to get rid of most sicknesses for a time... That doesn't mean we won't get infected or contaminated by them ever again

Disagree. Bacterial, fungal and viral infections are very different from metabolic issues. I’m medically trained, not Google or ChatGPT trained.

We can develop immunity from some viruses after contracting them once. What bacterial or fungal infections is this also true of?

Basically what they found is that as humans have become much "cleaner" that our incidence of autoimmune diseases has increased and that is because certain roundworms you would normally pick up while walking barefoot on the ground outside that the body has developed a symbiotic relationship with are missing. The roundworms get food and shelter form the body and the body needs them to signal the immune system to dampen down a little.

However, in reality it works because they release certain chemicals and that is the way they are not attacked by the immune system and killed but effectively over thousands of years they have developed an interplay that is necessary for survival.

Solution? Walk around barefoot more on dirt. Nothing really needs to be done since people have it within their own power to resolve that themselves easily.

And learn to enjoy the sensations of live critters slithering out of your underroos, down your legs, and into your pennyloafers, each time you have the misfortune of sharting in the middle of a board meeting ;)

Plenty. It’s the non-specific immune system aka the Ig cascade. And the specific immune system, the part of the system that learns about pathogens and how to defeat them so that it can react more quickly. Read up on them if it interests you.

Ok. Earlier you wrote of having medical training. What sort exactly?

Had those pyrotechnics exploded on time, and Ledger's death been delayed by several decades, who can imagine what heights he might have ascended to?
