Do you respond?

Every day I find strange women in my messenger and instagram who want to 'chat' to 'get to know me'. I mostly ignore them or respond with 'Why?', but how do you respond to them? A lot of them are American, so I wonder if the American members have the same issue and if they are American women or foreigners?
