According to this article... human beings a losing their intelligence:

So it might be safe to say "This is as good as it gets" as far as human intelligence goes. Society and culture have peaked and are pretty much stagnant now (or declining).

Is this nature's way of saying: "There are too many of you and we need to kill you off." OR is it the result of mating choices, not to mention the fact that women have more power over who they mate with than pre-victorian era

The article clearly states that intelligent women have less kids. Is this because they are excessively picky / entitled or is it because they are not attractive to men?

Freaking dumb article. Lol have humans intelligence peaked? Yeah we're so dumb that we created Google Glass.

Society is advancing faster than ever with technology, and eventually our progression is going to be so fast we can't keep up with it. Yeah there are some less than intelligent people out there, I think mostly as a society we're a lot smart. Kids are being raised to use iPads and iPhones. IQ scores are going up, we're a lot smarter compared to years and years ago.

I kind of like what you said about girls having more choice about who they date.

Basically though....it's definitely not safe to say this is as smart as we're ever gonna get. In fact that's a pretty dumb thing to say lol.

Steve Jobs was a celebrity in his own right. He didn't have social anxiety and performed a lot of public seminars just speaking on computers.

Sorry but you need to get with the times lol. There is not such thing as "nerds" and 'geeks' anymore. There are people who understand technology, and people who do not. I invite you to expand your thinking, and stop categorizing people.

You might think of a bodybuilder as someone who's got their problems taken care of, but a lot of guys who go to the gym don't have the confidence to speak to an attractive girl. Like I said, just don't limit your mind so much that you think of people in a particular way

I don't mean to offend you but this statement makes no sense. The grammar is bad and I can't understand what similarity you're trying to draw. So if I misread your first question I apologize.

Yes, my point is that kids today growing up with iPads and iPhones are smarter than people born 20 years ago. Just ask the people born 20 years ago, who don't know how to use tablets and smart phones.

Pretty simple when you think about it. And today we have twelve to seventeen- year old kids creating multi-million dollar businesses, all out of programs created on a computer. That's definitely something no one saw 20 years ago.

Yes you may argue technology dumbs people down a little. That's how society advances. Every time we advance, we lose a little something from the past. But that's the way it's always been.

I played a bit of D&D... man you have to be a brianiac to figure out all those levels and dice rolls. If you know anyone who is a Dungeon Master, they are usually highly intelligent individuals and they have to add rules to every element of story they tell... No kids have definitely gotten dumber... they play stupid sh1t on their IPADs and phones that make pong look complicated. If you go back and look at some of the first popular computers, you'll see a ton of RPG like games that are fairly complex, for instance the ULTIMA, WIZARDRY and TSR: Gold Box Games. Not only that, you would have to navigate command lines and know tons of commands to get your Commodore 64 to even load those damn disks. To use a disk? Man you would need to go through a super complex process just to format it for storage. When nerds met other nerds, we were instantly friends. We knew the kind of effort you would have to invest to get those games to work... now... forget about it.

Today, kids flick a switch and press a button and they have games at their finger tips. They have no connection to each other, anything that comes easy is never appreciated or respected.

We used to be HEAVILY bullied in school for even knowing how to use a computer... it required tons of study and skill to use and lots of alone time. Now, everyone has a computer in their pocket, its called a phone but really its a highly advanced computer. PUA's 30 years ago wouldn't be caught dead using one.

The study measured reaction times.

"To sum up 100 years of research, there is a reliable correlation between measures of reaction time and measures of IQ, but the order of such correlations is far short of what would be required to use the former to explain the latter," said Theodore Nettelbeck, a psychologist at the University of Adelaide who researches intelligence.

In other words, Nettelbeck told LiveScience, using reaction time as a proxy for IQ leaves something to be desired. At best, he said, reaction times to complex stimuli might explain about 20 percent to 25 percent of the variation in IQs, and simple reaction times explain a lot less.

Nettelbeck also raised concerns about the various experiments analyzed in the new study and how comparable they might be.

"Not only would there be differences in the technologies for timing responses, which may or not influence the outcome measures; there would also be procedural differences in the numbers of trials from which means [averages] have been derived, instructions to participants, extent of prior practice, the nature of stimuli, the form of response keys, all of which can influence the length of response," he said.

Reaction time can also be tricky to interpret, said James Flynn, for whom the Flynn effect is named.

"A dull person has just as quick a peak reaction time as a brilliant person," Flynn told LiveScience. The difference is that someone with a low IQ typically can't stay focused and so their reaction times won't be consistent throughout an experiment; their scores vary more widely than those of high-IQ people.

"Is this really neural speed, or for a dull person, [or] is it much more difficult for them to be attentive to the task?" Flynn said.

Other factors play a role as well, he added. In studies of schoolchildren, kids in Hong Kong are quicker off the mark in reaction time tests than British kids. You could read those results to mean Chinese kids are smarter than Britons, Flynn said. Or perhaps Chinese kids are just more willing to take risks.

The good news is that even if Woodley and his colleagues are correct that the soil of the human mind is becoming less fertile, the species is not doomed to a slow decline into idiocy. Norway and Sweden are exceptions to the rule that less educated, lower-IQ people have more children, Flynn said. Both countries have few class differences and make birth control easily available. And with IQ scores still rising in most of the world, environment seems to be trumping possible genetic problems.

"Apparently, we haven't explored the limits of our genes yet," Flynn said.

We are a culture that does anything a celebrity does and wear whatever they wear.

I didn't read the article, but I'm convinced that human intelligence peaked around the very early 1900s, if not late 1800s. Since then, every generation is considerably weaker and more stupid than the one before. I believe this downward spiral to be irreversible.
