Brooke Shields laments ageism

Let's see - a woman who made her mark in the world of showbiz by being a very young teen model, staring in a movies about teen prostitution and "first love" as an island castaway - is now lamenting the fact that as a mature woman, that her career is wanting.

I LOVE IT!

BTW, I've always that although cute to some degree, she was never that hot. Now her facial features are rather masculine.

For those of you who haven't figure it out, when referring to an article it's forum etiquette to link a source. Even better is to quote it for the lazy:

Quote:
In a revealing new interview, Brooke Shields - who turns 44 next month - says her age is making it hard for her to land roles in Hollywood.

“For years, I’ve been the youngest person on the set, and it occurred to me recently that I wasn’t 26!” she tells May’s More Magazine. “I’d read a script and say, ‘Oh, that’s a great character, that’s something I’d love to do.’ And they’d say, ‘Um, no, we’re thinking of you for the mother.’ And then I’d say, ‘Oh, of course! Of course! I knew that.’”

“There aren’t a lot of movies out there for my age,” adds Shields, whose NBC show Lipstick Jungle was canceled last year after two seasons. “They’re still stopping at the mid-30s. Then you’re Diane Keaton or Glenn Close.” (Keaton is 63; Close, 62.)

Shields — who, at age 14, became the youngest fashion model ever to appear on Vogue and went on to be a Calvin Klein model — says she sees ageism in advertising too.

“I always find it funny that so much skin cream advertising features, like, Jessica Alba,” she says. “She’s gorgeous, and 12! Okay? They’re all that age! I don’t care how much La Mer I put on my skin, I’m not going to have Jessica Alba’s face!”

When it comes to her body, Shields says, “I’m proud of my longevity more than anything else. There’s a lot to be said for endurance. I’m trying to find the beauty in the whole picture rather than the crow’s feet.”

She adds, “Sure, I wish I had the face I had a decade ago, but I don’t. People say, ‘I love my wrinkles.’ I don’t love my wrinkles – come on!”

That's why I don't give a fvck when a woman tries to sham me for going after younger women! Its my time baby!! you had your fun in your 20's when you played guys for fools and now you can't afford to be too picky!! haha that's why all women run to the altar when they realise their one true commodity (looks) is slowly losing its value as they age.

And brooke shields is no slouch for her age. Image how the average woman her age feels, and then imagine when she sees men her age with younger women. She feels like a dryed up used husk. She knows her time is over. That's why the become cougars (which is code for "old sluts"), a young man will give her a try but he's not gonna marry her or take care of her...and it makes her feel young to pull a young guy, but end does it really work out so well for them?

The cougar fad is the most recent female delusion by which younger Baby boomers and Gen X women can believe that they "still got it".

If they really had enduring sexual market value, then they would be working at creating good relationships with males of their own age instead of fawning over immature college boys.
On the surface ,the cougar movement looks like independent assertive women seeking uncomplicated pleasure, but it more resembles the female version of those middle aged guys who wear toupees, gold jewelry and tight pants and drive around in red convertibles.

There is something appallingly tragic about a woman getting "boobs by DuPont" at age 45.

Maybe so, but I still wish more of them would. Unless you really, really like pancakes.

Poor Brooke is simply having it dawn on her that life is shorter then she thought it was. Like the song says, "You don't know what you have 'till it's gone".

You have the right idea, but you have to make sure you take a few things into account.

Undoubtedly, cougars are working from a position of powerlessness and are "overcompensating" just like the stereotypical man who goes through a mid life crisis.

But I wouldn't call an older woman getting implants "tragic". I don't see any shame in a woman improving her appearance through whatever means possible, and I don't see any issue in older women dating younger men. The problem is the way they are DELUDING themselves, as you mentioned.

I just don't believe in shaming the actions themselves.

I mean, I'm 37, I live in the club district, drive a sports car, wear fake hair, etc, but that's because it's ME, not because I'm trying to recapture my youth.
