Krav Maga
Is there anyway I can learn Krav Maga on my own without a fitness center? I think krav maga is very useful and practical in everyday situations. Has anyone here learned this stuff before and recommend some websites with tips and whatnot?

Andy, you can get an idea of it, and the concept of it, but you cant expect to learn it without physically training it.
And without a partner, you just will be spinning your wheels. Now theres something to be said about solo training at home, but only once you are training regularly and are really familiar with basics So get a video and some books and magazine articles to get a good grasp of it in your mind, but once you start training it physically , you will realize theres no way you can duplicate distance and timing, and spatial relationship alone with a video or something.

Andy you're going to be a better fighter from any martial art that you actually get to train. There is a world of difference. The problem in trying to learn something on your own is that you can practice incorrect technique without realizing it. Then you create bad habits that are hard to leave behind. Pick an art that you can train under a coach or instructor - even if it is high school wrestling or tae qwon do. That's how you get good. I go to a lot of local cage fights. There are a lot of independent fighters who train on their own, but very rarely do they defeat a fighter who trains with a successful dojo.

If your looking for a hobby and don’t care much about self defense, then yeah cool train on your own. But if your serious, keep in mind that one day you will have to train with other people. Nothing beats it.

My thought is to watch this video with a HB. Then practice some of the techniques with her. You, and her, could learn some defense, and I bet it's a sure fire way to escalate to other physical activities. |
