Ugh, squats!
I currently do not have access to a squat machine or free weights that will allow me to safely squat...
Are there any make-shift way to get around this or am I just plain screwed? Are there any other ways to obtain the same effect as squatting? Thanks. |

without weights, wall sits like JoeKerr said and jump squats are hard. With weights, leg press, lunge, quad extensions.

Do single leg split squats:
http://exrx.net/WeightExercises/Quad...plitSquat.html Even if you don't have weights, you can invent some. Fill two empty milk gallons with water and grab one in each hand. Better yet, buy a cheap dumbell set. Stick your back leg on a chair or your bed. Split squats are tough and they might be too hard for you though, you'll have to prove it to yourself. |

I got a good idea from PE at school:
Get Swiss Ball. Put tit between yourself and a wall. Squat up and down, keeping your back to the ball and the ball on the wall. If you want, you can make your own weights, for example by filling water into milk jugs, using beer casks, pail filled with something (make sure it has a good handle). Be creative. I just built myself a push-up "machine". However, if you find that it hurts your back, joints or whatever, stop.

Is this really that hard?? You know the movement you make. Go pick up something heavy, keep your back straight and squat with it. You don't have to have a d@mn barbell and squat rack.
Pretty common sense unless you're just a retard. Rig up a bar if you have to Grab two heavy sandbags by your side and squat with them. It will help build your grip too. You can do the same thing with lunges. I do my entire workout outside, with no gym equipment. Strictly using things I find in my garage.
