Eh, your post are a bit different IMO. I never noticed self promotion as the purpose of your post. They just contained a bunch of insight which had more foundation building insight instead of the lastest trick that may get you lucky (if the woman is drunk enough).

Character... Now there's a concept. Too bad it takes more effort to build than a lot of guys want to exert. They just want to know what to do on their date tomorrow.

Maybe in your perception of reality...

This should be in the MM forum for awhile, then maybe moved back over here. I think some of the meatier posters should partake in this discussion.

Squirrels, that was a GREAT post, by the way.

I like what LMS is saying, but you have to start with yourself. You have to enlighten yourself, free yourself, before you save the world. Otherwise it will always be the blind leading the blind.

Obsidion, your viewpoint of women being inferior is sad. Anyone who labels and judges a whole gender or group (race, religion) of people, especially in a negative light, always strikes me as the opposite of enlightened. You seem like the type that needs to knock someone off their "pedestal" in order to rise up on one yourself.

But by FIGHTING it in our minds, we reinforce the idea of its existence. It's like a mental Chinese finger-trap...the harder we try to force our way out, the harder it pushes back against us....

That's it in a nutshell. It's easier to fight a monster without a face than to face the monster within us. We talk about opening up our eyes to what's going on around us but we never tell guys to open up their eyes and look in the mirror. We talk about standing up and fight to regain our masculinity and it's as if we are afraid to fight the demons within us, we just BWM about the big 'ol bully on the playground. We find every excuse in the book to not directly address the things within ourselves (the things we have actual control over) which could change our lives dramatically; what are we afraid of?

Gotta quote another movie: "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you."

I wouldn't be much good to this forum lately. I'm in a MAJOR funk and am just starting to claw my way out of it. Nothing's worked for me except one thing...complete RELEASE, which I've started to aim for but have yet to achieve.

Besides, I'm tired of being among the ranks of the millions on this forum who GET it, continue to post deep philosophical insights, but refuse to APPLY it. There's a difference between KNOWING the path and WALKING the path. Most people here already KNOW it. I KNOW it very well. But I've seen this happen to my fellow "DJs" when they "hit the wall", so to speak, and they realize that they can't FIGHT the system.

Most of them collapse under its weight and return to AFCdom.

I swore it'd never happen to me, but slowly, it has found ways to break back into my head. Usually happens in a moment of weakness, when we see how much joy others are experiencing from finally finding someone they CLICK with...we can lose track of the order of things. We start thinking we want what others want, when we don't REALLY want what others want, we just want the same kind of happiness they achieve from what THEY do. We forget who WE are.

You can't beat "the Matrix". There is no way to beat it. You have to transcend it.

Don't encourage Lucas. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll just go away.

I think borrowing the whole Matrix thing from some halfwitted movie is an injustice to the message, but whatever.

At least you are aware of it though..that's a huge step in the right direction, and a breath of fresh air from the fellas on here who believe themselves to be the final word on truth and reality.

You should definitely be spending more time in action mode, just don't forget to post some of the things you've picked up with experience here cause this place needs that kind of inspiration

Senor Fingers,

That was a re-freshing reply back to squirrels.

I am wondering if you could expand a bit on what you called "Action Mode". Maybe, describing when YOU are in action mode and what that means. How to be self-aware that you are, etc.

From there how can we best track it and share here (They way you challenged squirrels to do so, what if I wanted to basically?)

Thanks in advance,
eyedogg

Or my name is Johnson and I'm a huge fella?

The point I made still stands. The Matrix movie was a thoughtless bit of entertainment, to take it and try to adopt the stage props it uses to deliver a very important message is an ongoing mistake in my opinion.

Touché Mr. Johnson,

I won't front.. you actually do make a valid argument.

Personally I enjoyed the movie, but am sick of the Matrix analogy being constantly tossed back and forth to describe any shade of oppression people experience. It's become a pathetic stereotype at best.

That's kind of been my point all along.

This post was written in hopes that we could all move on and stop dealing with our lives from the outside in. (By focusing on evil forces or conjuring up philosophies that do nothing to free us from our destructive patterns)

I agree that this tired-ass analogy needs to die already. In fact, you wont catch me mentioning the M word anywhere outside of this thread.

We all have things that we need done to be happy.. goals to accomplish and basic needs that have to be met. This requires action on our part.

The problem occurs when you get all your self-satisfaction from philosophizing. Just because you have a deep understanding of life, doesn't necessarily make you a master of your own.

Fruitful discussions come from people who bring their experiences to the table.. if you are just hypothesizing in your mind about how things work, without actually experimenting with your own life, then its all just lip service... a mental jack session with no real substance behind it.

You can tell when someone is "talking the walk".. all they do is parrot what other people say, and churn out regurgitated versions of their favorite posts. These guys are fluffers

Don't get me wrong here, my intention is not to trash this place.

Sosuave is a nice procrastination device. I like throwing ideas at you guys cause yall are a smart/funny bunch and I get unexpected results. But it's not a priority for me cause I realize that time is my greatest commodity.

Actively working towards one's goals is the wisest investment of time. Sure we all need to play sometimes and let our hair down, but living is serious business too.. there's a lot of work to be done, spiritually, vocationally, emotionally and physically.

To me that is what Action Mode is all about... handling your business as a man and earning your game time.

It's much easier said than done, which is why most of us never make it past the realization phase, opting to ponder and talk about life rather than truly live it.

The saddest part of all this is that we often grant them that luxury, based only off their appearance.
