Do rock band members earn less than rappers?

Does a rock band have to split their bills to each members. Does that mean rappers earn a lot more money
than rock stars?

i would assume they split the money, same as a rap/r&b group.

but judging from the lyrics, bands wouldn't care as much about the money as much as rappers do.

The avg rock band member probably has more money in the bank than the avg rapper.

there is so much of an "image" that the avg rapper has to poertry, you go broke.

Unless you happen to be Dr. Dre or somebody like that, a rock star probably has a longer shelf-life, so will make more money overall.

As for being in a band, Noel Gallagher (Oasis), being the songwriter, makes far more than anyone else including his brother. Does he share it? No

In todays music industry, the majority of revenue comes from publishing, merchandising, and concerts, not record sales. So rock bands typically make more off merchandise than rappers.

Average rock band doesn't make "that much". For example Nighwish (pretty famous in europe/japan(?)) made 1.2M last from which around 400k was profit. Divide that to 4. Now this will most likely double now when they got new singer. Still around 100k a year for one member.
