AFC Giberish

Rollo's post a few days ago regarding AFC "Qualities" got me to thinking about this topic. The AFC Giberish and Chumpese we sling out when lamenting a fvcked relationship. As we get older it gets so much easier to spot. I can't believe how many of these I recall using or have seen used on the board. Feel free to add any others that are sure signs of AFCness and ONE-itis:

He (the other guy) is a loser
He is not good enough for her
He is a jerk
He treats/treated her like sh!t
She's too good for him
She'll miss me when I'm gone
We were meant to be together
Fate brought us together
I will never going back to her
She will always love her ex
She was just busy working (or studying, etc) ...
She cheated but she said she'd never do it again
I told her we would always be friends no matter what...
We were friends first, she will respect that
She's perfect
She's a HB10
She is the most [beautiful | hot | ...] HB I'll ever met
I will never meet another one like her
She just broke up with another guy so she needs some time...
She's not like other girls...
She said she would change...
I told her I would change
She's fvcked up
She doesn't have any friends
Her family is all screwed up and that's why she's...
Her ex [cheated | abused | used | ... ] her and that's why she's...
She only had dinner (or a drink, etc) with him...
She's different now because...
I have the upper hand in the relationship
We were fighting all the time but...
I'm probably not good enough for her
She has a boyfriend but she loves me
Her friends are the problem
I told her to pick between me and... (ie ultimatums)
We have so much in common
She just needs some more time

Good list, and all of them point to being addmissions of an AFC mindset, but notice that they're all rationalizations meant to affirm an inability to cope with conditions.

These are precisely what I'd expect to hear from a 15-25 y.o. symp, but allow me to frighten you a bit more. There comes a point as a man reaches his later years that he makes declarations of apathy about his lack of understanding he's an AFC.

Nothing sends a chill down my spine quite like hearing a 50 y.o. guy tell me, "Women. I guess we'll never really understand 'em 'eh?" with a nervous chuckle and expecting me to affirm his long held illusions. It gets even worse when I listen to guys make up rationalizations about their string of failed marriages.

You should write a post about the non-afc perspective in my opinion, because really AFC'ism has many facets, or grains in different types of guys:

-Obliviousness/stupidity from childhood upbringing/social programming
-Stunted maturity/arrested development
-Unwillingness to change
-Fear of change of habit
-Unwilling to expand horizons
-Timidity
-Spends more time alone then with people

And lets face it AFC'ism is not just about women, AFC'ism usually stems from deeper pychological wounds and ****ty upbringing, people that were never properly socialized and stopped trying to socialize because of rejection, and a host of other issues that life throws there way, they were never taught effectively how to make decisions. In fact AFC'ism in a way is chronic immaturity in decision making ability, motivation, or neglect in/of some area of your life you could say.

Some AFCs exhibit the above behaviors but some DJs also exhibit similar behaviors as well. Just because someone acts like the above or doesn't act like the above makes them lesser or greater than you. I'm sure at one time you had some of those very same behaviors. Look around you, no one acts the same way and if they did there'd be no variety of different colorful people.
