What a BS provision in the Immigration Act that non-citizens don't have to show more documentation than citizens and what a BS Obama/Holder DOJ.

A Texas catering business will pay the United States $26,400 for engaging in “citizenship-discrimination,” as part of a settlement with the Justice Department announced Tuesday.

Culinaire International unlawfully discriminated against employees based on their citizenship status, the Justice Department claimed, because it required non-citizen employees to provide extra proof of their right to work in the United States.

Culinaire has agreed to pay the United States $20,460 in civil penalties, receive training in anti-discrimination rules of the Immigration and Nationality Act, revise its work eligibility verification process, and create a $40,000 back pay fund for “potential economic victims.”

“Employers cannot discriminate against workers by requiring them to produce more documents than necessary in the employment eligibility verification and reverification processes,” Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights division, Molly Moran, said in a statement.

A lawful permanent resident’s card expires, but their right to work is permanent, and in this case Culinaire was requiring employees to present a renewed permanent resident card to be verified as work-eligible. The Justice Department claimed this violated a provision in the INA that prohibits employers from requiring extra documentation from non-citizen employees.

The Justice Department and Culinaire International did not immediately respond to request for comment.
I think this comment from the article comments was really good:

JOHN vs. JUAN
You have two families: "John Legal" and "Juan Illegal". Both families have two parents, two children, and live in Arizona ..

John Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.

Juan Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 in cash "under the table".

Ready? Now pay attention....

John Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; John Legal now has $31,231.00.

Juan Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200 per year.Juan Illegal pays no taxes. Juan Illegal now has $31,200.00.

John Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. John Legal now has $24,031.00.

Juan Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics and emergency hospitals at a cost of $0.00 per year. Juan Illegal still has $31,200.00.

John Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. John Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000..00 per year. John Legal now has $18,031.00.

Juan Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps, WIC and welfare. Juan Illegal still has $31,200.00.

John Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. John Legal now has 9,631.00.

Juan Illegal receives a $500.00 per month Federal Rent Subsidy. Juan Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Juan Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.

John Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for car insurance. Some of that is uninsured motorist insurance. John Legal now has $7,231.00.

Juan Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and still has $31,200.00.

John Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc..

Juan Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month..

John Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.

Juan Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

John Legal's and Juan Illegal's children both attend the same elementary school. John Legal pays for his children's lunches, while Juan Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch. Juan Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. John Legal's children go home.

Now, when they reach college age, John Legal's kids may not get into a State School and may not qualify for scholarships, grants or other tuition help, even though John has been paying for state schools through his taxes, while Juan Illegal's kids "go to the head of the class" because they are a minority.

John Legal and Juan Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but John paid for them and Juan did not pay.

HIGHLY agree with this article. Nothing is free in this world and then you see all these aliens whining because they think the rule doesn't apply to them. They are 2nd class citizens (IF you can even call them that). And then they ALSO want to change America to whatever customs/cultures they had in their village back in the middle of nowhere. They also talk sh1t about America, its people and everything else they find not "correcto". Ungrateful as can be. Why don't they pack their bags and leave? Oh right! Because they come from 3rd world countries. It's in these people's DNA. Give someone sh1t to eat and that's all they'll know. They'll always come back to eat sh1t.

Sounds like the catering business could have avoided this situation altogether by not employing these people. They wanted that cheap labor though.

Always two sides to every story.

Ha....ain't no affirmative action in the private sector. Unless they want government work, and then they have to give up 25% of their work, or whatever.

DIE-versity.

They might have wanted the employees for cheap labor but it doesn't sound like they really wanted these non-citizen employees or they wouldn't have asked them for more documentation.

Private sector employees (with 15 employees or more) still are forced to hire women, "minorities" and non-citizen (and pay them the same) due to the Equal Employment Opportunity provisions of the Civil Rights Act. If one of the applicants complains to the EEOC it could result in investigation and even lawsuits.

In reality the EEOC and courts almost only act on behalf of women and non-whites and almost never on behalf of white males no matter how compelling the evidence of discrimination against white males.

What's scarier is the relatively new whistleblower laws that cause untold mountains of legal expense in the private sector behind the scenes. DOL, IRS, other agencies all have these snitch programs in place. They are all ongoing privately with the snitches' protected (they just get a fat check while continuing to work at the pillaged company), so we won't be hearing about the true impact of this kind of thing from any sources. It's like we are trying purposefully to create the Soviet "party snitches" environment in the US.
