Has anyone else noticed that more women just don't care if a man is "handy" or "good with his hands" anymore?

I find they're more into the guys who can dress better than them and make funny posts on social media.

I remember growing up seeing the guy who was versatile with tools and could fix a thing or two around the house to be the one women wanted.

Interesting. In my age group the handy factor is huge, and is actually my trump card.

I hadn't considered that this valuation may have changed in younger generations. I guess it makes sense since this is the so-called "information age".

I disagree with this entirely.
As long as you show girls how good you are with your hands it's always a plus in value. Just consider how survivable a trait it is to have, very masculine.

I've had every woman I've been with compliment my handy skills... Building things and in bed.

Any woman putting value in social networking skills should be negged about it IMO

I'm in same position and my current gf loves how handy I am.

However, when I was single and dating none seemed to care as they were too concerned with image and status. I see this with all of my friends. None are handy and rely on others for that skill. But their gfs don't seem to mind that they lack that masculine trait.

Also to note, my gf is around my age/older than my friends' gfs are. So maybe it's an age group thing?

Lemme ask any one of you This..Do you own a vise (a good one) or a dremmel, punch set, air compressor, good mallets (including rubber), etc? A 60 pound or more vise, affixed to my workbench, is a must for me in fixing/upgrading things.

I do I do lol. I've always like fixing/tinkering with things. And always been a loner about it, somehow ended up with friends who have no interest in it. Which is why I started this thread. They've dated some pretty decent looking women but have been helpless in times they could have stepped up to fix something. Usually they call me

I know I'm not supposed to post here, however, I feel like I must say something on this.

I'm very good with tools and doing odd jobs around the house but I think that these skills aren't really valued as much by women any-more. I feel this is because girls do not understand these skills any-more, simply because they have never had to do anything remotely like them. I have three younger sisters who have never so much as changed a light-bulb, however I do it all the time. I find that it is now more the case that men are expected to know how to do these household jobs and as such this makes their value as a attractive trait diminish in the eyes of females. It is the entitlement complex of young women coming into the foreground again.

The only people who really give gratification for these skills are my male friends. Women expect me to know how to fix it and because of this when I am able to remedy a situation there is little acknowledgement from them.

Being handy used to be indicative of manly self-sufficiency. These days, it's more of an indicator of low socio-economic standing. How many Porsche owners change their own oil? How many Beverly Hills homeowners paint their own houses (or even change their own lightbulbs)?

Some older "old school" women might like it.

But younger or more "modern" women have zero interest. All they care about is that you make enough $$ to pay someone to do the job. Doing it yourself doesn't exist in her world.

I'm very handy with tools, but I never mention it to women anymore.

I'm in total disagreement with this thread!!! Younger women LOVE handy guys who can work with their hands. As they've told me, there's something incredibly sexy about a man who can fix sh*t. I'm pretty handy so I love to work on stuff around the house.

Do this: invite a chick over while you're tinkering, fixing, doing yard work, anything manly and watch them get hot. I swear it's true.

Also think about this, the average young guy is a pro at Call of Duty, a wizard with a computer, ace on the iPhone, can tweet and snapchat with the best of them but they can't fix sh*t. It's always better to stand out from the crowd and be different than to be like the rest.

Every girl I've dated this year has commented on how much they love my hands (callused, scarred and strong). I'm not sure this has helped me getting girls, but once they get the idea that i am a 'real' man who builds things and fixes things they definitely like it. I don't think all girls are into it, but many are.

Girl I am currently seeing complained on the first date about the severe lack of truly manly, dominate men to date. I knew right then, this girl was going to be into me.

I started picking girls up in my big loud diesel truck to take them out, and they love that too.

True but it's rare that they're impressed or find it hot. They do exist but I don't think as much as they used to.

My gf comes from a family of men who were all handy and had careers in things such as fixing machinery etc so to her she finds it extremely sexy that I have that ability.

But I remember being completely surprised when she told me because I was so used to girls being whatever about it when I was single and dating. They seemed more interested in status and how things appeared.

Dear Seethrue it,
No you have it entirely wrong...Sure amongst the stinking Rich and the extremely poor who have nothing to maintain, such skills are as useless as Tvits on a Bull...But amongst the Older Women of property, they open doors...Lets face it,wouldn't it be nice everytime a tap needs washering,a door needs easing,or a smoke alarm battery needs replacing you could pick up the phone and a guy comes running....Payment,well the moment a Plumber gets out of his truck down here it's $90 then $80 an hour...No if your currency is between your legs it's a smooth situation!

Gotta say I disagree with the reasoning behind this post.

Women still love a guy who can fix things. Hence the popularity of house porn on HGTV and the fix-it guys on HGTV like Scott McGillivray and the Property Brothers. Women love it when a guy is capable, can control his enviornment, and, let's be honest, do stuff they can show off on Instagram.

The reason it has fallen from a "must have" to a "nice to have" is less guys are handy than in years past! Possible reasons why: Guys are more computer centric, things are cheaper and more easily replaced than fixed, fathers are rarer in households than years past. Several different reasons. But a woman looking for a handy mate will probably stay looking for awhile as they are fewer than ever before.

When it comes to dressing well and snappy posts on social media these are things that women can easily show off to friends today. We work with what we get.

Well, I am very handy and though I am a physician, my father was a mechanic and I can tell you women are very impressed that I can fix my old Mercedes and Porsche. They love it..... Add to that that I can cook too and their little pu**sies get wet really fast. BTW, most of these women are in their forties so there may be an age factor. Abe

Agreed. Invite a woman over to watch you cut down a tree. Using the chainsaw, pulling on the tree to take it down, it's all gonna make her wet. She might complain about how unsafe it is for you to be doing it, but you have to forgive her for that. She's sitting in uncomfortable, drenched panties.

You have to remember that confidence conquers all. If you're changing a tire and you start getting mad or whiny about how the nuts are too tight, it's going to be a turn off. If you're screaming "You're coming off, you MOTHERFVCKER!" and give that bolt a good crank, she's going to need changing.

There is NO WAY IN HELL that a man who's confident and good with his hands is going to be less sexy than a man who's a non-handy but well dressed telemarketer. Think about it. Being handy is a good trait to have for survival. You're gonna be able to take care of her regardless of how much money you have. If a Tornado comes and tears down your house, you'd have the ability to build a new one even if you've never built one in your lifetime, solely by being handy.

I find they're more into the guys who can dress better than them and make funny posts on social media.
What about the man who can do this AND be handy? I'd throw myself into that category. Why settle for a couple of attractive traits when I could have lots of them.

So i bought my waterfront house last year, and it needed to be completely renovated. I gutted it down to the studs and redid the whole house. Anyways, when I bring girls over or show girls pics of what I did, they tell me how much they love it and such. Then, when they see my huge walk in shower with all kinds of shower heads, it's game over. lol

I have it on good authority that I'm a 7, who looks like a 9 holding a gun or a power tool. I think OP is hanging out with the wrong women.

I think there is some age and location variance in this too. Maybe young chicks in urban environments don't appreciate the "Man's Man" like other places, but I can tell you that here in Houston, if you live outside the loop, women in their 30's and up like more rugged men. I work around my house, on my pimp @$$ back yard, on my motorcycles... My garage has a legit shop setup like Poonani talked about, plus a big flat screen and stereo system, and I think every woman that has come over has complimented me on it.

Now, I also think that this has to fit your overall presentation of yourself...
