How to proceed with girl who is playing hard to get?
So theres this girl in my math class who i think is really cute. Anyways i know her friend really well and her friend told me that this girl thinks im really hot and cute also and always talks about me on the phone . So i start talking to her for a few days now, i also went to her volleyball game the other day and stayed there for a few hours and hung out. Things went well, we flirted with each other and it felt like we were getting along well. So today after class i decided to ask for her number but she said "sorry i dont give out my number to people." and kinda gave me this weird look. I felt awkward and didnt know what to say really but just continued walking and talking with her in the halls. Does this mean she doesnt like me anymore? I mean i dont get girls sometimes, if she thought i was really cute and weve been connecting well these past few days why wouldnt she give out her number? Im confused at this point and dont know what i should do. Should i continue talking to her and getting to know her better to possibly ask her out or should i take this as a rejection and back off? Shes a sophomore and im a senior if that matters. Any advice about this would be much appreciated.

Great post, man. My first thought was maybe she's not allowed to get phone calls from guys... (when I was growing up, I had an a-hole stepfather who didn't let me or my brother use the phone...) Regardless, she may be from a conservative family.
Secondly, she might be shy or afraid to open up so quickly.... Especially if she REALLY likes someone! Some gals don't appear to be shy on the surface, but they might be when it comes to a one-on-one relationship with the opposite sex. All I know is that all the signs seem good except for the phone thing.... Hang in there, continue to show interest, but don't smother her.... Keep doing what you're already doing, and try to show that you respect her situation (whatever that situation might be, LOL). She will figure things out soon enough, and you'll start getting your answers soon enough as she begins to trust you and open up more to you. Keep us posted. Good luck! The Gambler |

I wouldn't see it as anything other than a speed bump. You got the green light from the best friend so you could almost do no wrong. Stay persistent with it. Next time you talk to her, try to mention the idea of you two or a group of friends going out to do something. Then ask for her number to let her know about the details later. That way, she has a reason to justify it and you could build from there. Good lucks.
