I hate to admit it but ... For the last 2 weeks straight I have only used SMS to set up dates and do an SMS version of C+F. Using Pappy's quotes and good timing, I was able to boost a few girlses confidence going into their finals and provide myself with dates. Its become my secret weapon.

I also used it on some of my flaky GF's, who make great dates except that most of them have more emotional baggage then any man in his right mind would get involved with. I have used it to figure out relationship problems and even de-fuse certain situations where talking on the phone would have just made her blow up in your face.

Its a great tool. I am trying not to over-use it. Plus, its like christmas, everytime somebody writes back. So it serves multiple purposes.

I've always prefered SMS and I've gotten alot of flak about it on these boards but I've never cared about the flak though.

I know. But different strokes for different folks. I love SMS and I know how to effectively use it in my arsenal to further my DJ'ing game. Plus, I can think of 3 instances during finals week, where if I would have talked with a girl, I would have seemed stressed out and like a complete a$$hole and messed things up. So it saved me a few times.

Here's the cool thing about text messages via cell.

If you get the right package, they're way cheaper than minutes on a cell phone. I get 100 per month for 3 bucks. They're free to read, so girls don't mind getting them during the day. I know some chicks who are pretty tight with the cash - mainly because they don't have much. But txt messages are free for them to read.

Exactly. AT&T charges nothing for the viewing and sending (via Web-site) and .10 for ones sent from the phone if you don't go with a plan, but some girls actually like to get messaged during class as it gives them something to look forward to during the day. Once again, its a beautiful tool with not very many flaws.
 

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.

Yepp and you can hide alot of hidden messages inn them... I love hiding inuendo and flirting in them etc.

Exactly. Plus, girls love to use their imagination. So you might actually come off better in an SMS then in a boring phone convo.

Communicating via SMS definately adds a degree of mystery. They dont know where you are, what mood your in, and limits communication to just a couple of sentences. Less is more as they say.

One shortfall however, is that its easy to misinterpret over SMS. Something meant in a joking or lighthearted way can be interpreted as mean, and vice versa. Most of our verbal communication apparently is through HOW we say things, not what was actually said. This can also be used to your advantage too, if you're smart about it.

Personally i limit my SMS's to just a couple of words if possible.
I live by the saying: Less is more.

Yes, just because you have a 110 characters does not mean every message has to be that long. Say what needs to be said and then split. I also do not use it as IM. Meaning that if "Ashley" sends me a SMS I will not continually respond within a second of her writing something to me, therefore creating like an IM atmosphere. I space my SMS messages apart by 15 min - 45 increments. I like to have the girl know that I am a busy guy, who does not have the time nor the patience to just SMS with her on my phone.

Another subject touched upon in another post, was the use of SMS in mental warfare. I posted back on the subject and originally did like the idea. Ofcourse, I had to experience it first hand and for my first time used it. I did not have a bad experience as many fellow DJ's originally thought, I would. If any of you also took a similar approach, let us hear about it.

Today, I used SMS for my best setup. I invited a girl to spend her night drinking with me after work. The situation was simple and the girl was very interested, SMS just helped me in accomplishing the deed. She afterwards TXT'ed me for like 2 hours straight, to just chat. It showed me that her IL was high and SMS kept the mystery level up.

Anybody else have this kind of situation happening with them?

yea sms is very popular in the uk, and you can get great deals on them. i get 600 free a month!

a good way of checking IL is to write back to them and not put a direct question but leaving something that they could ask about if they wanted. dont put tb (txt back) or anything like that at the end either. so if they write back to you you will know they're interested.

Excellent Advice.

There are so many different ways to make SMS work for you, its not even funny. I also think Girls are intruiged by the setup of how it works ... and the excitment of seeing if they get a message back. They are like children in the candy store if you have ever watch them :p

Well, I just learned another way in which SMS can be used.

Went on a date yesterday and the girl had a fairly high IL. We said bye after the date, hugged and kissed, although no thank you.

She writes me 20 minutes after our date "Thankz for the date. Goodnight". This is the 2nd time she has done this. So we just discovered another great reason SMS is a good tool.
