Hello all,

I've just got back into some good 'ol treadmill running for the last week and a half and will be posting my results on here to keep as a tracker.

I document my times on a wall chart in the kitchen also but I'll post on here to serve as extra motivation.

I'm currently doing 30 minute treadmill sessions for three consecutive days then a days rest and repeat. I'm tracking the calories I've lost on each session and add up the three together. I'm aiming to break 1500 calories and beyond for a 3 day set. Here's my results so far. I've just finished day 10.

Day 1,2 and 3: 460, 444 and 438cals (total cals - 1342)

Day 4: rest

Day 5,6 and 7: 459, 439 and 475cals (total cals - 1373)

Day 8: rest

Day 9,10 and 11: 472, 476(pb),....

I adjust the speed to suit. I get bored of running the same pace for 30 mins so I add in some interval sprints to shock the body.

Here's my last 30 min session breakdown:

1-2 min warm up - 6km p/hr
2-8min - 10km
8-10min - 11km
10-12min - 12km
12-13min - 13km
13-14min - 14km
14-15min - 15km
15-17min - 6km
17 - 19min - 10km
19-24min - 12km
24-28min - 13km
28-29min - 14km
29-30min - 16km

I'm drinking 3 litres of lemon water each day to help.

My goal is to run quicker and lose fat on the belly. I really want to break 500 cals for a 30 min session.

If anyone has any tips or would like to take part in the challenge feel free to comment.

Cheers.

Floyd.

Day 9, 10 and 11: 472, 476 and 459cal (total cals 1407)

Day 12: Rest

Day 13, 14 and 15: 480, 453, 485cal (total cals 1418)

My latest run tonight was my best one yet - 485 cal. My breathing pattern has improved and I feel stronger in the later part of the run. It's certainly not easy but gotta keep pushing myself.

I aim to beat 1425cals for my next 3 day session.

I like it. This is very similar to what I was doing in 2014. I never woud have believed that regular use of the treadmill would get me ripped. Tracking calories burned is very effective.
Thanks Espi. It definitely helps when you track your calories I agree. Keeps you motivated.

Set 5
Day 18 - 489cal
Day 19 - 494cal
Day 20 - 505cal - **Smashed my first barrier!

Total calories burned - 1488.

Just conquered a few goals here. It's pretty pleasing what a few weeks of hard work and persistence can do and what can be achieved. I was blowing out of my a.ss after the first couple of sessions. I've just smashed over 500 cals for the first time and felt I had more in the tank. I was running at 18km for the last minute. I think I could of maybe maintained this pace for 1minute 30 seconds.

I'm determined to break the 1500 barrier on my next set. Onwards and upwards!

Started the challenge back up this year.

Here's my results so far:

Week 1 - 482, 491, 481 (1454cal)
Week 2 - 489, 499, 473 (1461cal)
Week 3 - 478, 516, 519 (1513cal)

I've only drink water this year plus started one on one boxing training once a week with a former World Champion boxer.

My fitness is vastly improving. I've broken the 500 cals a few times now and still feel quite fresh afterwards. I follow up this 30 min run with a 45 min blast on the boxing bag, jump rope and ab work.

Diet and exercise certainly go hand in hand.

Week 4 - 485, 508, 530* (1523cal)

Smashed my PB this week with a total of 530 cals burned!

Started out on a steep incline (16%) at walking pace then gradually lowered it whilst increasing the speed. Absolutely blasted the final minute and a half sprinting until I stopped with exhaustion. Got quite a few looks around the gym as well. A regular gym member came up to me and said your cardio is improving rapidly - must be watching from afar.

Going to try and get to 535 next week.

It feels kinda badass working up a sweat.

Week 5- 486, 525, 518 (1529cal)

Another PB for the week.

Today I Started my first run for week 6 and obliterated my PB.......544 calories! That's an improvement of close to a 100 calorie gain to when I first started out.

The best thing is i still feel I had more in the tank. I just mistimed my long sprint home. Finished on a speed of 12mph.

My aim is to get to 550 calories.

In my opinion, treadmills are inferior to being outdoors when it comes to distance running. However, sprints on a treadmill can be more effective. In my opinion you should take the calorie burn with a grain of salt, and if you are doing any type of distance running, you should use natural terrain, and run at your own pace. It's friendlier to the joints.
