Ah, the infamous appeal of the Illustrious Entertainment industry has infected me just as it infects the masses. The difference is, unlike the sheep I have the red pill.

Anyone have any experience in the entertainment industry and can offer advice? Anything is welcome, tips. Some do's and don'ts

My interests (talents) include:

Art (pencil art) acting (no formal experience on training) Musical production (movie scores & instrumentals) Vocal recording ( using programs such as logic or protools)

I'm current at a universtiy about 6 hours away for NYC.

Do I have to sell my soul or participate in a gay orgy? (Joke)

Seriously though, just would like to hear some words from the other side.

If you are good in art, your best bet is being a cartoonist or comic book artist.

The other three pursuits have too much competition. You have to know people to get in those fields its not about the talent. And while you joking selling your soul, wild gay parties are the norm in Hollywood most of your favorite male actors have done those acts.

here in los angeles, we have a ton of strip clubs with a steady stream of young hotties coming in every week....the prices for lap dances, VIPs, and **ahem** "extra curricular fun" has significantly dropped over the years...

....this is because all these dumbas$ kids keep flooding into LA hoping to make it big as a model or actress....only to find out that EVERYBODY in LA has a pretty face and a bangin body and that they're competing for nickels and dimes (cause these hollywood studios take advantage of naive kids)....

..... so these kids usually end up doing porn or dancing in strip clubs (and giving blowj0bs for extra income)....

... and it's not just girls... there's a ton of straight males that failed as actors that have to resort to doing G4P (gay for pay) just to survive out here... before long, time creeps up on these kids and they realize "oh sh!t, I'm 30 years old with no education, my looks are gone, and the only skill I have is selling my as$ just to pay rent..."

...if you're a man trying to make it in hollywood, please believe that you're gonna have to do a lot gay sh!t because these studios are run by a bunch of old perverts.... I'm pretty sure NYC is the same...

.....stay in school... good degrees are: nursing, human resources, accounting.
.....bad degrees are : engineering, psychology, business administration (too generalized), art, journalism...

This

even the directors and producers are homosexuals. That Hollywood life is a lie bro. Stick to the art, do art for local newspapers, make kid graphic novels, comic art etc.

you need to be cutt throat business person and if you are just an artist you are there to be used, put through the meatgrinder and spit out the other end a soulless creature.

You need to be aware of the evil that is in hollywood and what forces run the entertainment industry. the masses are seriously plugged into the matrix when it comes to this ish.

create your own artistry (music, film, drawin whatever) and put it outyourself, put it online. Keep itoutof the hands of the industry mogul conglomerates.

....a little factoid about LA: a lot of parents will assemble a picture portfolio of their kids and submit them to a modeling/acting agency because the studios are always looking for kids to be extras on tv shows or movies ( and it's also a way to earn an easy buck toward your kids' education). These studios will hire kids of all ethnic backgrounds... but as the kids become older, unless they're white or black, they won't find as much work in the entertainment industry.

When it comes to teens or adult actors/actresses, Hollywood almost exclusively prefers white or black actors. Latinos, Asians, Indians, Arabs generally have difficulty finding steady work as models or actors.

The ugly truth about the entertainment industry is that there's a lot of racism... not malicious racism, but rather practical racism.... because white actors/actresses will always sell tickets, black actors/actresses will sometimes sell tickets, but Asian Latino Indian Arabs usually don't sell enough tickets for studios to hire these demographics...

Hollywood prefers tall, thin white guys.... you gotta be at least 6' and have that swimmer's body to even have chance of being noticed by a casting committee.

Okay, time to summarize, if you really want to get into entertainment:
1) Be a tall thin white guy in your early 20's....if you're black, your chances just dropped by about 10% but you still have a shot... if you're any of the other demographics, don't even bother cause you don't have a chance....
2) Assemble a photo portfolio and submit it to a modelling/acting agency
3) Have a thick head of hair.... a receding hairline or thinning hair ain't gonna help
4) Master your voice and body language
5) Be proactive, constantly seek opportunities, keep in constant contact with your agent cause it's easy for them to forget about you amongst a sea of prospect models/actors
6) Be ready to do gay sh!t... it's not a joke that Hollywood is ruled by the gay mafia....

There, hope this helps...

Agreed with the homosexual acts unless there's anything else shocking to be put on the screen or to be heard! You'll break into the industry very well if you shock people with what you put up there.

@The_flying_dutchman engineering a bad degree? Haha, good one.

Stay in school man. Sure, chase your dreams, but have a good back up plan.
I've worked for many fortune 500 manufacturing companies.....engineers are always the first to be laid off....

Back up plan...
HVAC repair... Not kidding, everybody has heating or air conditioning system in their home so it is not one of those blue collar jobs which is declining like most construction jobs. There are not a whole lot of training programs for this so it is a somewhat in demand skill.
Would not take you long to complete training for it, get some connections, and take the certification test and it is a stable blue collar job which had moderately good pay. Most of all however, good job security.
