I'm actually moving there within this year from Las Vegas...not becasue vegas is dull but because there's beaches in Miami and I'm originally from the east coast anyway
Nightlife there is prime for a city it's size. I'm actually planning on working at the HardRock Casino in Fort Lauderdale which is about 45 minutes north. It's a prime "boardwalk" type place with bars.
When I visited there a few months ago It felt so much nicer walking around outside there. Seeing as Las Vegas is pretty much a concrete desert town, it was nice to see trees, beaches, wild life etc etc. I liked it.
Cost of living is getting steeper but I plan to buy one of the newer houses in a spanish speaking community (I speak pretty good spanish concidering I've lived in the SW for the last 6 years) The houses are about 30-40 minutes from the beach and run about 200,000 to 350,000 for a 4 bedroom house which isn't too shabby.
The main thing about florida is that it's a port town. I plan on going on cruises a bunch, to Georgia and South Carolina to see my relatives, visit the other cities in florida, Disney Land/epcot there are TONS of things to do there.
People are people, you either get along with them or you don't. It's a metropolitan area and some people are going to suck.
Hopefully I can break into the motorcycle community there (I'm probably gonna get a new model GSX-R 600 or 750 when I go) and my room mate's gonna become a lawyer so he can watch my back. It's gonna be a rocking good time. For you I'd say do it! You're young you've got plenty of time to move again if you don't like it. Get out see the world be young and live it up!
