How do you guys deal with the unexpected and rather unpleasent obstacles that life just throws at you, i.e. Job loss, unwanted pregnancy, death of a family member or close friend, sudden financial difficulties, or even a major blow to your self confidence.

I am not necessarily asking for advice, I just am curious as to how different guys deal with the sudden curveballs that life throws at you and what prevents you from throwing in the towel, so to speak

In the past I have dealt with these things very badly (especially deaths or breakups), spent a large percentage of my days brooding and worrying, while neglecting my priorities.

More recently I've come to adopt the attitude, "if it's out of my control, it's not worth my attention". Some people say I'm cold or too laidback, but what good does moping or worrying do? If you lose your job and sit feeling sorry for yourself, you're decreasing your chances of finding another job. If you lose someone close, emotional pain is inevitable, but it hurts so much more if you dwell on it.

Whatever it is, you need to stand up and deal with it in a practical and tangible way if you ever hope to get over it.

"you can't put $hit back in the donkey"

learn from the past, but don't dwell on it. there is no magic potion that can turn back time and change your situation. but most of the time, the situation is changeable or at least improveable..how? your attitude.

You set the frame. Life is what you make of it. Two people can have the exact same life - but one will be happy and the other miserable.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

-Many people come to the gym to vent out their daily frustrations. Instead of sitting at home feeling depressed- I'm more motivated to hit the gym.
-As an artist and a musician, it fuels my creativity to write lyrics or paint a picture that best describes my mood. Some of my best works comes from the saddest part of my life.

Prepare for the worst that my motto. I take time to picture all the bad things that can possibly happen. Doing this helps you think of a plan to handle that situation while you still have a clear head. Where as if you were actually going through the situation, you wouldn,t have as much of a clear head because you're more in an emotional state.
Having more than one option when it comes to money, women, etc. is also good. Even if you have a well paying job, you should at least try to invest in your own bussiness, or look for other jobs that you can utilize your specific skills in. Just in case your current job might decide to lay you off, etc.
In short, just learn how to roll with the punches.

I take the hit, dust myself off and keep on moving. Like a shark, keep swiming or die.

I found as I get older that a certain amount of pain comes along with this life. All you have to do is feel it, acknowledge it, and move on.
