I never really understood that concept. Doesn't it make your fat retain more water so the muscle doesn't show through?

One gallon is a little too much. I'd say 2 liters is fine. That's what I drink. Make sure it's not tap water, mine is reverse osmosis. I'd avoid "spring water".

One gallon is not too much. I thought it was recommened that everybody drank atleast 8 glasses a day. That come to about a gallon. You need to take in water to take out water. Your muscles are about 70% water so if you want bigger muscles drinking water can help. Plus if you trying to lose fat it can help curb your appetite. If you don't take in enough water it will affect your workouts.

The more you exert yourself, the more water you will need. General rule.

:rolleyes:

Seriously, when you start worrying about where your water is coming from (as long as it's not from behind a waste dump) you have some serious issues. The purity of your water isn't going to make you look better or workout harder. :p All municiple water supplies are regulated by the federal government and are actually held to stricter standards than bottled water. I can think of a few reasons just off the top of my head why you should drink tap water instead. Stupid yuppy douches.

Edit: And just go get back on topic... forget all the BS about drinking 8 cups or a gallon a day... drink what your body needs. You'll know if you're thirsty or dehydrated. I generally drink enough so that my urine is clear all day (a liter to a gallon depending), but past that, only if I'm actually thirsty.

When your p1ss is clear you're drinking enough water! You can't say that this is so many litres/gallons all the time because some days you'll work out and need more, there'll be hot days when you sweat a lot .. etc etc.

Water intake!

Dehydration = catabolism.

The more protein you eat, the more water you have to drink.

I wouldn't go belov 3 liters a day on average, high protein = more!

There, problem solved! :D

No, a gallon is 16 cups, and 8 cups is 1/2 gallon... Unless your glasses are way over 8 oz.

Ridiculous. H20 is H20. The small amount of chemicals in the water aren't gunna hurt you.

Oh, and most bottled water is just bottled tap water from other cities.

Too much water puts a lot of stress on the kidneys (they've got to filter it all out!). But if your piss is dark yellow and smells really bad, you're probably not getting enough. It should just have a very light yellow tint. You're drinking too much if it's completely clear (unless you're about to go to a sport competition that requires a lot of stamina). But just the extra work your body does to process the water can help fat loss.

High protein diet can be hard on the kidney's. Tom Prince said one of the things he could've done to prevent his kidney damage was drink more water.
