How do you deal with troubled friends?

I have a friend, let's call him Jack. He has a girlfriend, lets call her Amy.

The two of them have been going out for months, and this is the 3rd time they've been a couple. (after breaking up, and hooking up again over and over). She's been a reeeaall ***** to him, and always puts him in a terrible depressed mood. He always asks me 'How do I deal with this!?" "What to I do?" "How do I respond to THAT!?"

My group has told him to just dump her. Let her be, and end it. ASAP. But the fool won't listen. He's convinced he's in love with her, so he won't break things off, but continues to ask for help.

How do you deal with these friends?

Well, first of all it's always great to have friends like you. I commend you for caring enough for your friend to take action. If he can't see the problem, and everyone else can it's simple, he's just in denial. Open his eyes and show him what's happening isn't right. There's no real set way to do that, but you'll figure it out. Maybe take him out somewhere. Introduce him to some other women, and show him how much better he can get. That's the only thing I can really think of off the top of my head. Touchy situation

I had a friend who was in the exact situation it looks like yours is in. This girl was REALLY screwing with him, cheating behind his back, and overall was just a douchebag. This guy even knew about it and stayed with her. The fact of the matter is that usually when you have a really AFC friend get any kind of girlfriend, and fall in "love", there's no changing his mind.

He'll stop listening to reasoning because he likes being "in love", even though she's screwing with him.

You can keep pressing it, but if he starts getting really sensitive on the subject, don't jeapordize your friendship for it...chances are he won't change until something happens between him and the girl that sets him off.

Soon she will tell him to **** off, and it will devastate him. But it will help him become stronger in the long run.

Still, do all you can to help him.

There are just some things that people have to learn by themselves.

i agree and think you should help him up when he falls down and get him self motivated and confident again. you know how, you read the bible :)
