I am going away to school and I need to purchase a laptop. I need something that can run anything a management student will use, as well as p2p software, movies/music player, AIM, and possibly world of warcraft (and games with equivilant requirements).

I have 1500 to spend on a laptop, accessories (a mouse, any external HDs I will need, ect), and software (the basics). I have looked into macs and I like them a great deal - they seem like workhorses. The idea that they are less prone to viruses and more seemless (software/hardware) is apealing. But I have no idea what kinds of system requirements are needed and how much is a good price to spend on that system?

I have looked at their website and visited the store, but 2nd opinions are more than welcome - especially those comparing mac and pc laptops!

if you want to play games, then go pc. if not, go for mac.

For your general purpose use, and the budget given, I would get a PC. You can get more bang for your buck.

Macs are infinetely nicer to use, look at, and are just more stable.

But since you aren't dealing largely with graphics intensive (and not to mention stability dependant) programs, it would be overkill.

Go the PC.
