I'm entering a very competitive program in university, and want to look my best. As an undergraduate, I wore whatever was on sale/not ripped yet. Needless to say, it really didn't matter because I wasn't trying to impress anyone.
Now that I have entered a field of study that appears to be more about impressing superiors than demonstrating knowledge, I want to know what kind of clothing style is fashionable these days. If anyone could supply pics or websites where I could find this info that would be great too.

Another thing is haircuts. I had this shaggy thing before it became fashionable, and when it did, it was great. I got attention from everyone because of my hair, and compliments to boot.
But shaggy hair is too juvenile looking now. What kind of professional hairstyle would suit a guy with thin hair as it is (not thinning hair; I'm not going bald. My hairs' diameter is very very thin). Again, pics or websites are welcome and appreciated.

You need to be more elaborate. Do you need to dress more professional, or do you just have to look more clean cut? First thing first though, is get rid of the shaggy hair. Even though there's girls who may like it, you will see when it comes to the more fashionable attractive girls, they like somebody who keeps it clean themselves.

Basically, keep the sides trimmed, have some sort of sideburns (not saying elvis like, but maybe at least down a quarter of your ear, halfway seems to get the best results)

As for your attire, like i said, elaborate on what look you are going for, then I will help you.

As for me, at this time I wear alot of button down and polo shirts. Mix and matching with jeans or khakis as well as casual boots and sneakers

Hey Valdez,

you'd be surprised how well the shaggy hair works to get the fashionably attractive girls. I bet you're thinking I get only hippies and odd rock girls, which is hardly the case. I get everything from 19 year old students to 31 year old businesswomen - all of them very attractive and movie-star fashionable. The hair REALLY looks good on me, which is one reason I don't want to see it go. I've been told by more people than I can count on my hands,on separate occasions, that I look like Johnny Depp.... I don't look like him at all with short hair, I look more like Fez. And we all know how much of a chick magnet Fez is.
Either way, I'm cutting it for professional purposes. I have mastered the whole Cand F or whatever its called enough to not have to rely on style as the only thing that I can use to get dates.
But that was wayyyyy off topic...

The look I am going for is the professional businessman look, since what I'm going into is very professional HNWI occupation and they all seem to have this air of snobbery about them. Normally I'd say **** it but this is my lifes work. If I'm gonna get the best of the best job, I'm gonna have to look the part.

How do I do that?

Will if you have Johnny Depp type of hair, then I had you all wrong. I was thinking more of the skater/stoner cliche hair.

Anyway, sounds like you will be needing to be dressed in a suit on most occasions. This means, on your "casual" days, you will be wearing slacks, a buttondown shirt, and a nice tie. I myself don't dress this way, but I do know a bit about it. When it comes looking professional, the two main accessories will be the watch you wear as well your tie. If you really want to make a powerful statement by your appearance, you can also add cufflinks.

As the hair thing. sounds like you need a stylist who can bring out the best style for your facial features.

As a dj, you should also know that your body language will make you own the look. Just don't let your look turn you into a prick/snob.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Well...

I would first look at what your peers are wearing and casually compliment their attire and ask who the designer was, or just hit Banana Republic (or any other store like Hugo Boss, Kenneth Cole, or Armani) and have them tailor a suit for you. Anything that fits well is usually guaranteed to make you look good.

Choose colors/patterns that flatter, and most importantly, make your face "glow," as you're going into a field of suits and ties. That should make you stand out a bit more in addition to the right accessories.

As for current business fashion trends... I'd hazard that if you wanted a more modern look, you'd be wearing flat front dress pants (not pleated) with or without a slight bootleg. You might couple that with a fitted dress shirt (slimmer fit that aims to accentuate your body or has darts in the back) as well. Don't forget about your shoes too; drag a fashionable woman to go with you for that, and check if the flat-toed dress shoes are still in. Lastly slim ties were rampant in an issue I saw in GQ a month or so ago, so check around if that's still in too. I don't think you could wear a jacket over what I'm visualizing, so I'd THINK such a get-up would be perfect for business casual with a touch of the current times.

I make all these statements from my observations of seeing young and old business men in the Chicago's business district btw. But they all look the same to me, which doesn't seem to be the effect you want...

...so you might want to visit the fashion board on gq (who will definitely know current fashion trends in the business world) and askmen (more practical I think and has some members with links to runway sites that you seem to be interested in), which should be a bit more help to you.

Nice Clothing and hair style makes you really attractive. But after sometime all are waste and you feel bad when you cannot study or waste time on fashion and clothing. So study hard and all are really impressed by you and your knowledge
