how to treat ear infection/inflammation?

i woke up today from a sharp pain in my right ear when i turned to that side. judging by the place where it hurts its Acute Otitis Externa, which is inflammation of the outer ear. pain is really sharp when i touch it, when i dont its like someone is slowly but steadily drilling a hole in my head

since its sunday i have to wait at least until tomorrow to get to a doctor.and i dont even know if he'll have any spots open.

aside from popping pain relievers anyone knows what i can do to reduce the inflammation or at least minimize the pain until i can finally get a prescription?

you probally have an infection and need an antibotic such as amoxicillin

there is an old wives tale to back a whole onion and when it gets all soft take it out and let it cool, when it cools down a little but is still warm, put it to your ear to draw the infection out...

i never tried it tho.

what ever you do don't take an anti-histamine it doubles the amount of time it takes for the fluid to drain out of you ear canal this applies only if the infection has moved inward.

i dont really know what an anti-histamine is. i'm taking ibuprofen for pain, is that alright?
