Some background info:
I know this girl from my chemistry class last year. She and I weren't really close friends but recently she and I have been talking on the phone and such and she has been insisting that we get together. We had set up a get together on thursday for dinner and a movie, but it never was officially a date. While talking to her yesterday she told me

Her: "oh, by the way don't do that whole cliche pretend to stretch and put your arm around me thing."
Me: "But my darling, that is done on dates."
Her: "Are you asking me out on a date?"
Me: "I dunno, is that what you are insinuating?"
Her: "I don't like to label my outings so take it as you want."

Im kinda perplexed by it, anyone wanna take a stab at it? When she said are you asking me out on a date it wasn't in a kinda weirded out way but more in a sort of tone of voice like is this finally happening. I dunno if that properly explains it in words but thats the best I can come up with.

I think she was hoping you'd say "yeah it is a date" but instead you said: "I dunno, is that what you are insinuating?" She was surprised to hear this answer so she replied with: "I don't like to label my outings so take it as you want." The "So take it as you want" part kind of gives it away. I think she wants it to be a date. Good luck buddy.

Most chicks at HS age don't ask guys out and some still don't when there older.

It's a rule of code. Or something. Keeps them from seeming needy or sluttly. (lusting a guy)

You should have called it a date and if you were wrong... she would have corrected you. Be firmer next time. Or you could correct your error. By at the beging saying '...off to our date' or what have you.

Umm... Not to rate but, 'My darling that is done on dates' is sorta week.

You could have been like.

'Oh yeah, well by the way don't do that whole cliche thing and act like you don't wanna tear my cloths off.' when she tries to come back. be like 'yeah-yeah I'm sure' and cut her off.

Well, she said it for a reason. I think she is hinting that she would like you to ask her out on a date. Go for it.

Ask her out again and do the it the cliche way in a really funny clown style. ie stick your arm around her while pretending to yawn but make it so big and obvious that you are taking the piss. Hopefully shell playfully elbow you in your stomach, if you do things that take the piss its a good start to kino. Not insultingly but teasingly.
