I'm 19, i'm a *really* lanky/skinny/puny guy. My wrists look like those of a 12 year old girl, i have basically no biceps, etc.
I've always been told that the reason most people don't have a six-pack is not for lack of muscle, but because they have a high bodyfat percentage. I've always assumed that this was the case for me as well, even though I'm skinny. But sitting here thinking about it I'm deciding that probably the reason I don't have a six pack is not because of a fat layer, but simply because I have no muscle there.
I say this because I assume my fat % is extremely low. I know it used to get rediculously low during cross-country season in high school (low diet, running 8+ miles a day) but I never saw a six pack. And when I pinch my stomach, I *can* feel fat there, but it's only like a quarter inch of it or something, ie. mostly skin. I can't imagine that these six-pack guys pinch themselves and it just feels like nothing... or is that the way it is?
So my question is this: What is the easiest way to build chest muscle? Is it just lots of crunches? And if so, how should I do them? I have access to a mini-gym in my dorm, with an inclined bench and stuff.
I'm really not interested in doing this if it's going to take much effort. I've never been big on working out, as you could tell from taking one glance at my pathetic muscles. Girls don't seem to mind, but the other day I had this one girl over and she was looking at this Justin Timberlake picture - she commented on his eight-pack, and I was like "yeah... that's what I have..." just joking, and she was like REALLY??? so i guess it's a turn on for some of them. So if I can do something for 10 minutes a day that will result in a six-pack then why not.
