I was down at the pool hall with a couple of buddies of mine when i spotted this cute little Korean girl. And you know how they are - some can be 20, but look very young if they're only 5'3. So all three of us had different guesses as to how old she was. I saw her checking me out briefly once or twice, but didn't approach because she was with her friends (a guy and a girl). But they finished playing first, and as they were passing us, the following conversation took place.

Me: Hey
HBKorean: (stops along with friends, seems friendly) Hello
Me: Listen, my friends and i are in disagreement as to your age. So out of curiosity, how old are you?
HBKorean: (smiles) How old do i look?
Me: I say you're at least 17. But this guy over here says you're 14, and he (point at my other friend with a grin) claims you're 12.
HBKorean's female friend (smile): You're the closest one. She's actually 16.
Me (with a small laugh) Great, so i'm not so bad at this after all

< at this point, i turned away and looked at my friends, hoping she'll keep on walking since i didn't really want her digits now that i knew she was only 16, which is legal in canada, but still too young in my book >

< two seconds later, i looked back to see her still standing there and looking at me. all of a sudden, i felt really bad. the only non-rude thing to say that jumped into my head was... >

Me: Hook up a number?
HBKorean (pause): Well, how old are you?
Me: 20
HBKorean (pause): Well... i have a boyfriend.
Me: No problem... nice meeting you anyway!
HBKorean (smile): Yeah... you too.

< i turn around, and she stands there looking at me for 2-3 more seconds, then walks away with her friends >

Alright, so what the hell was this all about? She stands there waiting for me to ask her out, and when i do, asks me how old i am before rejecting me. At first, i thought 20 was too old for her and she was hoping for 18-19, but i look 23-25, and no girl in her right mind would ever give me 20. So what was she expecting? And why didn't she move on immediately after the conversation ended? I got a feeling she wanted me to convince her to give me her digits even though she had a guy. Was she just trying to not look like a slut in front of her friends and hoping i'd give her a 'valid' reason to give out the digits?

Was that your best # close attempt? That was very bad; the 2-3 second delay is your sign that she DOES NOT have a boyfriend but that was the best thing she could come up to get rid of you, or test to see if you know what's up, since she wasn't prepared at that point. She stood there after that (more proof that she has no boyfriend) in case you had a comeback for her answer; she was giving you every opportunity to score the digits, but you had nothing prepared.

Great effort though, its guys like you who will eventually get better by trying out what stuff does and doesn't work. Keep talking to the girlies. But please learn some skills, and at least have basic prepared answers to basic chick responses.

1. Learn smoother, better ways to get the digits.

2. Have several responses to anything $hit test that she might throw at you.

I won't go into it here, but I suggest you do searches for that kind of information, and I hate to even say it myself, but READ THE DJ BIBLE! There, I now join the list of people who have given that particular advice to less experience DJ's.

You gotta read into my post some more I didn't want her digits. I only asked because i didn't want to be rude and tell her to go away. That was my worst attempt, not my best. The reason i got curious is because she displayed signs of high IL and yet rejected me. You're right though, i coulda gotten them had i tried. But at that point, i was just happy because i got rid of her. Not only was she 16, but didn't look as cute from up-close as she did from afar.
