Here's an interesting read . . .

http://www.salon.com/sex/col/tenn/2003/08/20/sya_wed/index.html

Basically, this girl cheats on her hubby, he has a breakdown, she decides he was mentally ill so her indescretion was justified, she gets knocked up with the new guy, and here's her take on marriage:

"Who wants to get married because it's "the right thing to do"? Where is the fun and passion in that? I know he wants to marry me, and not just because he's a traditional guy. To be honest, if he asked, really asked (instead of the usual half-teasing, "So when are we going to get married?") I wouldn't want to say no. One crazy little part of my brain is already planning the wedding. There are practical benefits, too. Getting married now would increase our income from his work at a time when we could use all the money we can get."

Check that last line again, "Getting married now would increase OUR income from HIS work . . ."

Uh huh. I don't think it means that he's gonna get paid more since he's married, either.

So let's just hope AFC #2 does pop the big Q and take one more self-absorbed man-wrecking wench out of circulation (for a few month's, anyway).

This is what I've been saying in all the "marriage" threads lately. So many people, even when kids aren't involved, think that marriage is just something they're SUPPOSED to do...society's got it so ingrained in their heads that it's the "right" step in people's lives. That's why the divorce rate is so high in this country...because people get married out of social responsibility, real or imagined, rather than because they truly enjoy each other.

The only thing is that HE is not a part of WE, which consists of the woman and the child. She has already claimed the child as her own, and will use it every chance she gets as leverage against this guy.

What do you want to bet her husband WAS NOT mentally ill before he married her??? Chicks like her give the rest of us bad names. Just one more instance for the nomarriage.com followers to jump up and point "SEE? WOMEN ARE EVIL!"

I pity the next guy.

Having been through the marriage/divorce machine, I can only sympathize. This girl is a big-time parasite/nut-case. Though I find it surprizing that she'd post her true motives on a public web-site (unless she's incredibly stupid too). I now know that one of the main reasons my ex-wife hooked up with me was that I was a steady source of income (h*ll, I'm still a steady source of income, and will be for many more years). She isn't the brightest person I've known, but at least she was always subtle about her game plan...

"melodramatic (something I hate)", yeah right! lol And I hate sex. :p "mental illness (his, not mine)", IMHO jury's still out on that one. ;) "I cheated on my husband (something I knew I'd never do)", no comment. "problem (there are many that will no doubt require lots of therapy)", 1st point on which we agree. ;) "He's a somewhat traditional guy", that's why he was having an affair with a married woman. "I have absolutely no doubt that I want to spend the rest of my life with him", I'm sure she said the same thing about the chump she married a year ago. "Getting married now would increase our income from his work at a time when we could use all the money we can get.", parasite, what a surprise.

It's perfectly believable, as to "typical" female mentality. I know I'll get flamed by the ladies, but there a lot of nut-cases like this out there. I would even risk to say that's it's more than 50% of the female population. The sweet sane ones are a minority. That's why this kind of trash appeals to them. Just a little too well written... The original letter has the feel of a made-for-TV chick melodrama. I think it's a fake. And this Cary Tennis dude, is either a woman or gay.

I understand your pain. I feel the same way about jerks/playas. Unfortunately, I think the percentage of women like this is higher than the percentage of jerks/playas. My personal opinion.

I believe in marriage but it seems like most get married too young, and for all the wrong reasons. Then they wonder why it didn't work out. The worst ones are the religious folks who don't believe in sex before marriage so they get married just to have sex.
