You don't have to pay anything to see who's listed. You just have to pay if you want to contact any of those people. So go check it out for yourself.

A one month subscription is $20 IIRC. It's a drop in a bucket for most people. Give it a try. I was able to date 2 (average-looking) girls from this.

No b/c even the simplest of these girls get thousands of messages and they get overwhelmed.

For sure, like good ole doc love says, "it's a numbers game." You can essentially have a girl who for the most part could be a 6 out of 10, but she will be deluged with emails day and night. The amount of choices she will have available will by far outweigh her options in what I would say to be typical social settings.

I have to wonder about the success rate for women on these web dating sites. If they had such tremendous response so that they could pick and choose far above their real-world rating -- you would think the word would get out and all the single women in the world would be swarming these sites trying to get in on a good thing -- which would reverse the female/male ratio thingy.

So I wonder. Something doesn't add up.

Thanks for all the advice, I think I'm going to hold off. I now think that these dating services are created in order that the ladies can pick and choose while the men, like bugs, are drawn to the fire to be burnt. I believe there are good outcomes out there, but I think my time is best spent in meeting people face to face.

I use Yahoo personals. Its not bad. I haven't used any other dating sites so I can't compare it.

Starman had some good advice on this subject. He said to be original, confident and funny in your messages. Ever since I read that and his examples, I've been getting a better response rate and I am finally getting responses from the hot ones. Yahoo personals, just like match.com is tough to meet girls. I just went on a date tonite w/ a asian chick that i met on yahoo. I responded to 50 profiles over a 4 week time period & i got 1 date. Forget the hot babes. They receive 50 emails a day. In fact, sometimes when i send a response to a profile of a real hot babe, it says "the users mailbox is full". The girl i went out my was a 6.5 but she was a cool chick. She didnt even have a picture on yahoo & she still received 10 emails a day. She got to pick & choose the dudes. Most of the time, the dudes were old & fat so she could cut 1/2 of them out. These online dating sites definately favor women. Reply to as many ads as you can. Dont be picky about distance, height, ethnicity, age, income, religion. Its a numbers game. The more ads you respond to, the better chance you have of hooking up. Also remember that it is free to post an ad on yahoo & they are alot of bored 10 year old boys than scan a photo of a hot model they downloaded off an obscure european website, post the ad on yahoo & pretend they are a 23 year lonely girl thats new to the city & need friends. You email them back & forth & when you ask them for a #, they give you a wrong # or you never hear from them. Also, some of the asian chicks live in asia & they tell you this until after you have emailed eachother 20 times. They are hoping to marry a dude & come here. The match.com is better because everyone has to pay $$ to post an ad or reply to an ad so you know you are dealing w/ real people. I had beter luck w/ yahoo. I think there are more babes on yahoo.
