What is the proper way to shake a womans hand? I don't want to squeeze to tight. Also how long do you hold it?

Have you ever had a complete wussy guy shake your hand, and barely clench it? It's almost laughable. It's the wimpiest thing ever. Imagine you are a chick, and a guy does that wimpy-ass, dead fish flopping in your hand thing, while they shake your hand. Oh man, if i was a chick, i would think you are a complete, low confident WUSS.

On the other hand, have you ever had a guy shake your hand so goddamn hard that it hurts? Its like he's overcompensating for something. That pisses me off as well.

So, you probably don't want to emulate any of these techniques. If you are worried about how to shake a chicks hand, be cognizant of how it feels when people shake your hand. Is it too strong, or too soft?

I would definitely give a firm, not too strong grip. Remember, they are chicks, and they are wimps compared to us MEN. hahaha...

I'm more worried about cold or sweatiness when i'm shaking a chicks hand. Then again, i don't remember shaking chicks hands that much??? I've been on LOTS of dates, and i think its something that's not done very often. Maybe you are supposed to hug them instead.

What do you guys think?

This sort of reminds me of the Seinfeld episode "the boyfriend" i think if you want to practice your handshake, practice it a few time's on a friend or relative and see how that goes with feedback, oh yeah, i agree, i have shaken hands with guy's with a reeeaaal weak hand shake, i swear, it feels like you can shatter all there bones with one sneeze.

This has been posted about in other threads. I'd suggest doing a search on how to shake hands with women. But I will restate my suggestion on what not to do which is: Do not use the corporate/buisness style handshake on women, unless you are at work.

I don't find "corporate style" too bad. Anyway, yes please there are a million threads on this topic. I just posted a lengthy tip on this recently, so search for one of my posts within another thread. Cheers.

It's improper etiquette for a man to extend his hand to a woman first. Only shake their hand if they extend it to you. This goes back to the days of chivalry when a man would (pretend to) kiss a woman's hand. If you go over extending your hand first, she might think you're rude. Also, if you wait and they extend first, you know you are prequalified.

Next, they want a firm handshake - firm enough to lead them through danger. Not wimpy, but not crushing either.

Hold it until they pull away, or for about 5 seconds, whichever comes first; and use the opportunity to make extended eye contact.
