Vatoloco's latest post got me started on this...
Many moons ago I used to work for a company that sold loose diamonds and engagement rings. This wasn't mall store retail, this was high end, custom manufactured jewelry. The company had a 30 day 100% return/exchange policy, I can't tell you how many times we got rings back because the woman wanted either a bigger diamond or a different ::cough:: more expensive ::cough:: ring.
I have PERSONALLY fielded phone calls from women who called in to exchange a .98 carat diamond for a full carat. "Hrmm there's a mans name on the billing information but a woman is calling in, say goodbye to you balls my friend" For the sake of example, a paper clip weighs about a gram, .02 carats is 1/4000 of a gram. The difference in price between a .98ct and 1ct diamond can be $1000 or more, all things being equal, and even more if it's high quality stones.
Moral of the story: don't buy jewelry (especially diamonds) unless you enjoy throwing your money in the garbage. Anytime I see women gushing over an engagement ring or diamonds they get marked as gold digging b1tches in my book.
Just a tip for you AFC's who enjoy throwing money at women, next time I'll post on the TWO men I know who bought their girlfriends boobjobs and are now being motorboated by other dudes.
