I'm actually talking about young women in Australia.
Now, I live in a nice aspirational suburb; very diverse ethnic group, just good people on the whole. We look out for each others well-being and property, and we greet each other in passing even if we're not acquainted.
Everybody, that is, except for young women.
Most (not all, but most) will not even acknowledge you, will not return a direct greeting, a nod, or a smile. Even our laughable teenage "thugs" are more congenial. Have you ever seen a dog fail to acknowledge another dog? Me neither.
Christ, they even drive the same way, complete failure to take account of other road/sidewalk users.
I suspect they're irredeemable.
