I think it'd be interesting if we could inspire each other by sharing stories about being in the “Zone” - you know, that condition where mind and body work together to reach a state of perfection. Nothing is impossible and when we want something we just get it- seemingly without any effort at all.
First, my apologies if my writing sometimes seems unclear. English is not my native language.
My story dates nine years back. I was 31 years old at the time and life was truly miserable. Really miserable, I was just recovering from the absolutely lowest point in my life so far.
I thought I had find her. The woman I'd marry and spend the rest of my life with but she had recently broken up with me after a three year long relationship, and I was so heartbroken you won't believe it.
To make things worse, I suspected that she was now dating a colleague of mine (Something that later turned out to not be the case, but this morning I didn't know).
I woke up. Saturday morning and free from work. This evening I was about to attend a huge party organized by a young lady I knew from work. About 100 guests and she had promised I'd be seated next to a nice single girl.
I was in a really ****ty mood. My apartment was a mess, I was a mess and being the total loser only I could be I tried to call my Ex in the morning.
No answer.
Called the man I suspected she was dating.
No answer.
Rage started to flow through my body. Hot, burning fury.
I decided to get out and buy some new clothes for the night. As I said, it was going to be a big party and I only knew a few of the people attending.
During the day my anger and resentment towards the world only grew.
But at some point during that day something in me changed: Instead of being sad and mad at the same time I just didn't give a f_ck about anything. Why should I? It was all a mess anyway I looked at it.
I arrived at the party very early. Me and two other guys were the first guests there. They stood at a table talking to each other and I did something I rarely do – I approached them and started talking. They turned out to be very nice guys and we spent about 40 minutes chatting and drinking some beer. Suddenly I just enjoyed myself and the thoughts of “**** the world” gave way to feelings of being afloat, on top of things and in control.
In the meantime, the other guests arrived and started to gather around their assigned dinner tables.
Feeling rather ****y and obnoxious I stayed away for a while and observed the empty chair on the right side of mine.
Where is she? Oh! There she is! She approaches the table, giving my empty spot a disappointed look.
I waited for a few minutes more before I approached and said hello to Desireé, a very nice looking girl in her late twenties.
That night I was the center of attention for the whole evening. Both the ladies and the guys at my table listened attentively to my words and laughed at my jokes. I can't explained what happened because this was so far from the normal, quiet and reserved me as is possible.
I managed to get Desireé talk a lot about herself. She spilled a lot of details until she realised she knew nothing about me. She was spellbound and I was in TOTAL control!
I still do not understand how I did it. It certainly was'nt the alcohol because I never drink a lot of that stuff.
Even before dinner was over she said she wanted to meet me again.
Then she bought me a drink, we danced some and ended up cuddling in a sofa.
After I kissed her goodnight we exchanged numbers.
Next evening she called me.
The week after that she was in my bed, moaning.
So that's my story. It's about a day where I started as a total loser but ended up the king of the world.
The good thing is that I although I still don't know how I did it, I can still hold on to the FEELING, and sometimes I can use it to my advantage.
