Why settle down?just because this was the norm for previous generations,why you?....The lonely old Man syndrome is a myth...The real risk is having your wealth decimated and your happiness ruined...Never let them get their feet under your table.

hmm, well, do tell me more about your life, I've heard the stories of everyone getting married and you feeling lonely, that's why my uncle married actually. I do want kids. I do not think I will be ready until my late 30s or early 40s, but I do need a kid and a long term relationship at some point

Yes I was hasty,given that the only real footprint we leave is through our genes,and that is somewhat tenuous,if that's what you want,children are the only way to go.....try the bread from every Oven and make sure you sample a Mainland Chinese...in general exciting Women tend to bore with married life more quickly,for them the ease of No Fault Divorce and sympathetic Family Law Courts,means you constantly have a Gun levelled at your head,on a whim you are over the side,your fortune destroyed and the links with your Children in tatters...Take care.

The "roller coaster" ones are very high risk when it comes to a long term marriage. They're great for short term dating and for flings, but it'll be very very hard to make it last with them for decades, which is what we're talking about if you want a stable marriage.

If you want a wife, you should find a traditional, high character woman who will be a good mother to your children. Generally, these kinds of women aren't as exciting as those roller coaster types, but they are more stable. They'll more easily accept the submissive role in a relationship.

I got a kid already and a crazy ex. I don't need to settle down. When I settle down it will be for someone to take care of me healthwise when I'm old. In return they can have what little assets I have, I can't take it with me. Pragmatic.

IF I ever do it again, NICE will be high on the list. These women who think they are always smarter than men-never happening. The opinionated women who second guess every decision you've made? had one a gigantic pain in the azz. I got 2 super intelligent boys from her,but more heartache than you can ever imagine. I'm less lonely single than I was in my marriage bed.

What I've come to desire in a woman is a woman who's clever/smart enough to be interesting over the long-term, while still being "cool" enough to be able to relax and have fun without injecting drama into every situation.

The two often end up being mutually exclusive.

Add to that the looks-requirement and the ability to be caring/compassionate (primarily for the kids)...I expect to be looking for a good long time. :p
