As I approach the distinguished age of 30 this year, profiting from my wisdom and years of experience like a noble silverback gorilla, I find myself in a dilemma. As much as I enjoy activities like skateboarding, breakdancing, grinding with co-eds in clubs, and drinking in parking lots, perhaps I ought to be adjusting my style a little.

What the hell do age-appropriate 30 year olds do anyway?
- Maintain their car?
- Practice formal dancing?
- Drink fine scotch and smoke cigarettes in private clubs while conspiring to fix prices and outwit anti-trust lawyers?
- Play rock band every weekend after dinner parties?
- Write angry letters about feminists on the internet?

I don't figure I'll quit doing what I like, but maybe there's some cool things here to try out? Share the wealth boys!

To what extent would you rate your own ambition?

I just turned 30 and still enjoy going to bars and picking up chicks but right now My goal is to start up my own business. Once I get my business started Im going to buy investment properties either real estate or business. Once I do that Im going to focus on putting together an exhibition for an art gallery.

Once I have a rock solid business system that makes money without me Im going to travel all over the world and sleep with women from around the globe while learning about their culture.

In between traveling, building my wealth and sleeping with beautiful women Im going to publish a book of my art and continue to do fine art shows.

I figure this should keep me busy for awhile..

I'm talking about casual hobbies and things to do just for fun that add value to my life. I'm very much occupied in terms of career + creative projects already. I don't need one of those 'life makeover' Jules... just curious what might be out there.

Art is an interesting idea. I don't think I've ever even looked into that world.

Expand the mind.


Read History, Philosophy and Classic Literature among other things. Visit an Art gallery and listen to all kinds of music.

By turning 30, you're entering the next stage in your life. It should be conscious maturity and expansion.

Golf? That's a common mid-life pursuit. Costs money, but so do most hobbies.

Poker and other forms of gambling are also popular among the older crowd, especially games where some skill is involved. James Bond was always in a casino. It's not my thing, I think gambling is kind of stupid, even though I know people who make money at it.

When I was a little older than you I started drinking martinis as my drink of choice (although I don't really drink at all now). Anything the Rat Pack would do is what you're looking for, I think.

You continue to do what works for you in pursuit of your goals and discard the fails.

Is anything supposed to change between 29 and 30? I mean... I turn 30 myself this year and nothing should change.

I'm already fulfilling a "bucket list" of mine within the last 5 months.
I don't expect anything to change... only to get better!

Well...you could do what's considered, "age-appropriate"...or you could do what you WANT to do.

Honestly, my biggest lament in life is that youth is wasted on the young, and experience on the old. It's always bugged me the way people behave. Just as they move into their mid-to-late 20s and early 30s, they finally start having SOME "means" for enjoying themselves...and they are all anxious to "settle down", stop having adventures, and act more "mature".

Dunno if you've ever seen that South Park episode with the "promise rings" and the Jonas Brothers...it's kinda like that.

Keep doing what you love doing. Just be more conscious of the opportunities to expand yourself that you find attractive, and don't be afraid to explore them. That's the "mature" outlook, as far as I'm concerned.
