In my experiences when getting dumped the only thing that worked was, not to start the crying and not asking myself "why?, why did she leave me?"
The thing that worked was to say to myself "OK it is done, now I have a chance to hook up with the ones that I wanted to hook up with" Thinking, who will be the NEXT one and start thinking on the ways that I will approach the NEW ladies.
I know it sounds bad, but it takes away the pain of the break up almost instantly. You do have to STOP and kinda empty your mind and not think about the good times you had with her or anything, erase your mind of her and when you find yourself thinking about her tell yourself "Thinking about her will only damage me" and focus on the NEXT one. This doesn't mean to throw yourself at the first female that you see but thinking this way and actually going out and working on the NEXT one will make you feel better than crying like a baby. Get in your car or walk to a place where you know females are at and start talking or flirting with them, just by being around them you will feel better and by having in mind that one of them could be the NEXT one. These are only my experiences.

You're relying a bit too much on a woman's presence in order to live comfortably, or stay emotionally calm after a break up.

But you are right with the positive outlook into dating more women in to the future.

There will always be more fishes in the ocean. Meatier, tastier, finer.

I hook up with some of my ex-gf's friends :kick: I felt better afterwards and now the ex wants me back because she found out that I was having a great time with all of her friends. Go figure
